Ok, so I know that thread wasn't all rainbows and flowers, but it wasn't exactly horrible stuff that warranted deleting. Where did it go? Have we gotten to the point where we can't say what we think in response to a topic for fear of the whole thing getting wiped out because someone's feelings might be hurt by a few posts offering another perspective? Isn't the purpose of posting threads to get feedback from others about your situation? If people don't want advice and only want sympathy, they're completely free to say as much.

I don't see how it benefits the board to pretend like these threads never existed. Wouldn't it be better to see them through to reach an understanding than to do the internet equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and humming until people stop talking?

No offense intended at the moderating staff; I am just confused as to how this sort of censorship benefits anyone.

Please don't delete this one too.

It''s very possible the OP asked that it be removed too...it''s not always admin.

It was deleted around 330 this afternoon - I was in the middle of reading it and then *.:poof:.* no more. I didnt think it was getting that heated either. That is, compared to some previous posts, but I cant speak for lala. I agree with gwen - If the threads keep getting deleted all its going to lead to is the same kind of thread a couple weeks down the road that will also be deleted because no newbies see the posts where disagreements ensued and how they were played out and resolved so they dont expect any responses that could be misinterpreted.

Yes, I guess that''s a definite possibility. I don''t understand why people would post things if they weren''t prepared to hear people''s opinions about what it is they''ve posted, though. Seems like a bit of a copout to then have the thread deleted if you can''t deal with what came of it or explain what you want from the forum members in the first place. And how will anyone ever learn to do that if threads that don''t go according to plan are deleted?

Thank you for your response Neatfreak.

For future reference, questions regarding moderator actions should be sent directly to us via the "Report Concern" button. Replies from the community are not official and at best speculation. This can lead to confusion and downright wrong information (not the case here and we appreciate Neatfreak taking the time to give an answer) but this is why we have the policy in place that states:

Moderator Action:
  1. Use the button for any questions related to thread/post removal, policies clarification, etc.
  2. Please do not post assumptions about moderator actions, this creates confusion, use "Report Post" button so that the moderator may clarify it appropriately. We are more than happy to do so.
  3. Some actions are subject to judgment calls for the integrity of the forum and should be respected as that.
  4. Out of respect for members/moderators and to avoid confusion any public discussions of moderator actions or policies will be removed.

  5. We reserve the rights to change policies at any time, therefore, please do not discuss policies publicly as they may change.

    Thank you for your consideration.

lol, ok, I''m glad I''m not going nuts... I thought the thread was very respectful too. But, then again, I spent most of my time pre-election in ATW, so my sensitivity level is probably preeeeetty low...

I posted in this thread. Probably one of the last ones that did. If I offended the OP, I am sorry. But still feel the same. I calls them as I sees them....

Thank you for your response, Ali. I sometimes forget about the "Message Admin" button since, in all other respects, private messaging is unavailable and we have to air our personal messages out in public. Are these rules posted anywhere? What warrants moderator action, how posters should deal with issues, etc.? I've had a quick look through the FAQ (where I'd expect to see them) but did not find anything.

gwen: a FORUM POLICIES and FORUM AGREEMENT tab is at the bottom of the page, it probably mentions something related to your question about removal of threads. One of my threads was removed because it breached a policy.

Ah, ok, thank you! I was an admin on another board, and we had things set-up very differently. Glad to know it is posted somewhere, though!

I totally agree with you Gwen! Just wanted to point out that sometimes admin isn''t trying to censor, the OP just can''t handle it or doesn''t want to.

Thank you very much Alexis, Namaste, MissDimity, bee, Tuckins, and Gwen!

I appreciate you mentioning that, as it wasn't something I had considered. I know of other threads that have been deleted so that they wouldn't turn up in searches because they didn't convey the proper attitude/demeanor, and did think (incorrectly) that this had happened again.

I have also been an admin on another forum since 2003 and the only threads that are deleted are ones of pure spam (like links to **** or people trying to sell things). When posters complain that threads don't go the way they wanted, they are encouraged to clear things up themselves, with the help of an unbiased moderator if need be. To just delete those threads like they never existed seems like taking a step back.

Gwen, You can find the link to policies at the bottom of every forum page. Since you looked in FAQ's, that may be a good place to add a link to them as well. Thanks for bringing up the idea.

Happy Birthday girls
