Which one is better for a diamond with a platinum setting? I also have a 1.8mm single prong eternity band that I’d like to use it for.

I would be hesitant to put that ring (in the picture above) in an ultrasonic; rather, I’d stick with soaking in warm water and dawn and a soft/gentle scrub with a baby toothbrush. It just looks too delicate IMO.

I've lost so many pave stones on my grandma's pieces for foolishly putting it in an ultrasonic. I've been scared to put pave in one ever since and stick to the toothbrush + warm water + dawn (+ white vinegar sometimes) formula.

Can someone recommend a good ultrasonic for a solitaire or stud earrings?

I tend to be hesitant too, but then I think that I would rather know my stones are loose and have it fall out there versus elsewhere.

If you do put it in, I'd not do it as the main way to clean.

I can’t comment on if you should use both or one over the other, because I’m not an expert. My rule of thumb is my two diamond pave bracelets do not go in the US and are only steamed and not often. I also hold them further away from the steamer nozzle. However for my prong set, I use both US first then steamer and it works perfectly! Super clean!!

Here is the US:

I have been using Lavish to clean my ring... If I'm cleaning multiple rings at the same time then I'll use my ultrasonic cleaner.

Does the steamer clean by the ultra high heat or the pressure from the steam?

I ask because I wonder if I could get the same effect if I used hot water in a Sonicare Water Pik to clean the grooves of the setting.

Or if I have a steaming tray inside a pot, can I place the ring inside to "steam" for a few minutes before putting it in the ultrasonic machine?

Just trying to minimize the number of devices around my bathroom sink! So far, I have a toothbrush, WaterPik, ultrasonic machine, and toothbrush charging cup in addition to the toothpaste, floss, brush, and armory of skin products. :P2 I can see myself accidentally knocking the steaming device into a sink full of water.
