I'm really pleased with this ebay find and thought I'd share. It's an old mine cut diamond set it 10k gold with what look like synthetic french cut emeralds. The diamond is pretty white and I can see some crystals within the pavilion side on close inspection. I'm guessing it weighs 70-85 points. The best part is I won it for $260! I'm going to turn it into a necklace with the emerald halo intact. I will update on the final result.

lovely, and what a great deal:-)

It would make a terrific necklace!

It''s gorgeous! What a great find.

We had a day at the antique centre yesterday and this is what I''m always searching for when we go there - a really lovely OMC at a bargain price (or even better, mis-labelled as a cz and priced accordingly

Enjoy it, it''s going to make a beautiful pendant.

The majority of my pieces are from ebay.

are you serious?! That is a LOVELY pin and the price cannot be beat!!!! wow!

I think it''s actually a pretty low risk purchase. I just try to make myself as informed as possible and ask questions. The questions have a two fold purpose, first they give you info, and secondly they tell you how responsive and knowledgeable the seller is. If the item is not as represented, you can usually resolve with the seller, if not then you can do the paypal process or credit card charge back if that fails. I have not been burned yet.

What a collection! I think I spotted a couple of older looking engraved wedding bands in there. Do you mind sharing more information and photos on them?

Way cool.
For a necklace I'd bend the pin into some complimentary design instead of cutting it off.

Then the piece is still intact but just has a new twist (oh I made a pun).

Better yet, I'd do some research and wear it how they wore it back then.
It's really special.

Thank you to everyone for the compliments. I glad to have something to share. Everyone has such amazing collections here.

Kenny, your idea intrigues me. There is an ebay seller who bends the shafts of the stick pins into rings which reminds of this. I think traditionally ladies wore them to secure their millinery or furs, and gentlemen wore them to secure their neckties. I don''t wear much of either these days.

Addy,

All the bands are sized 4-4.75. Here's a little explanation on the bands from left to right:
1) 20's platinum french cut sapphire eternity
2)50's platinum w. .15 H SI1 baguette and tapered sapphires
3) 30's platinum wedding band with 5 single cut diamonds and art nouveau engraving (can't photograph how cool this is!)
4) 30's platinum wedding band w/ .22 in pave, 32 diamonds
5) 30's 18k milgrained orange blossom band, no wear on this at all!
6) 20's platinum channel set eternity with french cut diamonds. Each diamond is the size of grain of sand but perfectly cut. This one is the most amazing, it is just 1mm wide yet is very sturdy. Unfortunately it is missing 3 diamonds. I was thinking of sending it to singlestone for repair but worry that would cost more than the $250 I paid for the ring.
7) 50's platinum band w/ 11 fairly included diamonds.
8)2mm tiffany lucida in platinum
9) 1mm 14k spacer band
10) Tiffany emerald gypsy ring, I can't tell the gold purity of the old stamp.

Thanks for letting me share! I'm big on bargains. I was showing to my fiance last night and explaining how they were all excellent deals. When he added it all up it was $1600 for the ten of them which he thought sounded expensive, but what he doesn't realizes that just one of the platinum diamond rings would command that in a retail store. I explained that I'm practicing tangible, enjoyable and portable wealth accumulation!
