Hi everyone!

I am a long time lurker and loved reading all the posts here. But since my boyfriend asked me to pick out a diamond I like, here I am. I've probably been searching for close to a month now. I love ovals and am looking to get a 2+ size. I found two gorgeous ones on Yadav. My parameters are G and better, VS2 and better and as excellent cut as I can get.

I first fell for this stone: https://www.yadavjewelry.com/diamond/2690901
It is a 2.35 D VS2 measuring 7.61 x 10.72 x 4.64 (VERY SPREADY) with good depth of 61%. Video and images in link above.

But something about the shape of the stone had me hesitating, like the width at the widest was good, but it was too narrow between the widest part and the top if that makes sense. Like the 2 o clock, 4 o clock, 7 o clock and 10 o clock edges were not rounded enough. I hope I am explaining this correctly.

So I decided to do one last search and found this: https://www.yadavjewelry.com/diamond/2551672
It is a 2.28 E VS1 measuring 10.61 - 7.41 x 4.64 (smaller :blackeye:) and a bit more pricey. But the shape seems more oval to me, the upper and lower side edges are more rounded, even thought L to W ratio is higher at 1.43, and I like ovals in the 1.38 range.

Your expertise is much appreciated! Thank you for reading! :kiss2:

Edit: I am not the best at evaluating pictures, others will chime in....the 2nd stone, I don’t like the center part, all black, and the top part is all mushy

Thanks for replying WillyDiamond! Opulence opals are beautiful but for the size I want, a bit out of my price range. :)

Any other thoughts? :)

I looked at each video several times and stopped them while the stones were in angles to compare. With the limited info...videos/pictures I feel like
the first one is better cut. Virtual facets seem less "mushy". However, this is a reply with limited info. Any option of getting both and returning the
one you dont like as much? Perhaps the vendor will send them to an appraiser (unbiased...not belonging to a jewelry store) for you to come in and
evaluate. Keep the one you like. Trying to figure out a way you can see them both in person.

Can you request aset images (which I dread to ask for because they arent that helpful with ovals).

Did you also check out James Allen. I prefer their videos because they turn at an angle vs on the N/S axis.
I'll take a quick look.

Edit...didnt see anything nearly that big at JA for the price. Checked Enchanted Diamonds too.

Thank you so much for your help ttyty333! I requested an ASET for the first one, which should be in today or tomorrow. I'll post the image when I get it. I could probably get them one at at time, I don't think my CC can cover the cost of both diamonds at the same time. Looking at them again, you are right that the facets appear clearer on the first one.

I wish I could purchase from JA. Their videos are so clear! But for the quality of diamonds I like, the price is out of my range. :)

Post when you get the aset. Remember it is only a static picture of the stone...wish they made aset videos =)2.
Helpful, but doesnt tell the whole picture.
