Hi guys,
I was in NYC this past weekend and paid a visit to my favourite store in the city - ID Jewelry. As usual, Luann, Yekutiel and his father, Israel were absolutely amazing. I went in late on Friday afternoon, not realizing they are closed on the weekend. Luann patiently showed me hundreds of gorgeous settings, but we were left with merely an hour to closing by the time I finalized my choices. Not wanting to see a sad customer, they rushed my chosen settings with their corresponding stones to their best coloured stone setter and an hour later I walked out with these beauties!
The oval is a 2.26ct Mahenge Spinel from Jaimeen at Prima. Once again, highly recommend them if you are in the market for a spinel. Their collection is massive and Jaimeen has a very keen eye. Both Jaimeen and Sukrita are extremely responsive and patient, especially when answering my million - and often redundant - questions! He described this stone as a bright, neon pink with a touch of red. Very brilliant and great sparkle. Had this set in a setting made by IDJ themselves, with a diamond halo of 0.77ctw FG/SI.
Next up is a 3.6ct Nigerian spess garnet from Gene that I bought three years ago! It is mostly red, with a burnt orange modifier that I absolutely love. Clearly there is no need for me to comment on the cut, we are, after all, talking about a stone cut by THE Genemeister
Originally wanted to set it in yellow gold, but when I placed the stone on top of this setting, I knew this was it. Once again, setting was made by IDJ themselves, set with 1ctw of FG/SI diamonds.
Hope you enjoy the pics as much as I enjoyed taking them!
