Are these both through BGD?

Looks like the gia stone picture was taken at an angle.

Hi tyty333.

#1 is a BG Sig H&A Diamond. #2 is a virtual diamond BGD brought in for me and took images.

You can see the leakage in the GIA stone.

The AGS stone would be my choice. What's the price difference?

I'd have to know price. I doubt you could see that leakage. But price would be a factor for me in addition to the color/clarity.

I'm curious about the price difference too. If they are the same I would go with the AGS stone.
If there is a decent price difference that may sway my opinion. Have you asked BGD to talk you
through the stones (tell you what they see)?

The one pictured on the right here is AMAZING.

The cut, the cut, the cut. AGS all day, everyday.

Thanks so much for the quick feedback everyone! The AGS BG diamond #1 is $10,200 (after 5% PS/Wire discount), the GIA Virtual diamond #2 is $10,300.

When I spoke with folks at BGD they stated that the AGS stone appears "bigger and whiter" next to the GIA stone, and they attributed that do the super ideal cut diamond. They also stated they could see the light leakage visible in the images. I'll see them in person next Tuesday.

I would expect them to push their stone vs. the virtual, so I am very grateful to have the Pricescope community to weigh-in.

For that price, I would choose the AGS 000 hands down.

Just based on the ideal scope images, definitely the AGS!

This makes the decision pretty easy...AGS stone.

I would pick the AGS

AGS for sure!

Thanks again for all of the great feedback, feeling confident about making a decision!

Two Diamonds, One Decision – Which One to Pick??? APPRAISAL

Visited appraiser today...

#1 AGS (G/VS2) appraised $12,900
#2 GIA (F/VS1) appraised $16,900

Both stones looked amazing in person and I think I would have trouble telling them apart if someone mixed them up. I went into the week set on keeping the #1 AGS based on images and overwhelming PS support : )

Should the appraisal make me re-think my decision? I have to assume the certs color/clarity drove the higher appraisal. Thanks!

I would go with what looks better to your eyes in all lighting.

If it's even, go with the one you paid less for. If you're getting insurance, get the one that will be lighter on the budget in the long run. I wouldn't decide by resale value/appraisal value, unless you are intending to resell it at some time.

Do consider upgrade policies.

Also, I think that if you get insurance on a branded stone and lose it/damage it, the replacement must also be a branded stone.

I would go with the AGS stone!

As always, I appreciate the feedback!

teobdl - I hadn't thought about the impact to insurance, but sure enough it would be ~$70-90 less per year for the AGS stone. I am planning on never having to worry about re-sale, but the #1 AGS stone is a Brian Gavin Signature H&A so it is eligible lifetime upgrade.

I personally would still go with the AGS.

Edit - I should have said id go with which ever one looked the nicest to me. If I couldnt tell the difference I would go with
The AGS000.

I agree. Most appraisals are grossly inflated, anyway.

Only if you plan on reselling. Personally, you don't buy a diamond for an investment, appraisals are for insurance puposes only! Since the AGS stone has a lifetime upgrade policy, that's what I'd be more concerned about. Not to mention, the better cut stone. This is still a very easy decision for me....
