I am choosing between 2 diamonds. Really don't know which one to pick. Please help.

$21K+ 2.26 Ct, H color, VS2, ex/ex/ex, strong fluorescence, table 59%, depth 62.3%, 34.5 41.2
$24K+ 2.49 Ct, I color, VS2, ex/ex/ex, faint fluorescence, table 56%, depth 62%, 35.5 41

both are not so 'ideal' do you have any more options ?

I like the 2.49 I one better with the 56 table. It's larger, 35.5 crown will have alot of fire, and the depth is slightly better. I don't care for the 41.2 Pavillion and the 59 table on the first one. I had a stone with a 41.2 P. once, and it seemed like the center of the stone details were slightly less sharp, unless it was JUST cleaned. Not sure why that was, but it has always stuck with me. I returned that stone. I also had a 59 table stone, it was a beautiful stone, very bright. But I prefer fire over brightness, so smaller tables suit me better.

Both stones, to me, seem like they will have totally different personalities. Only you can decide which looks best to you. The above is just my preferences. Good luck with your decision. And please post pics when you decide which stone you will be choosing.

Both stones got a 3.8 on the HCA scale which you really want a 2 or less : https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca . Are you open to other options?

What I am so confused about HCA is that on Bluenile they have so many very expensive "Signature Ideal" stones that score poorly with HCA. I am sorry to say but Is HCA that important?

BN Signature Ideals aren't bad, but they're not "all that" either. Most will perform well, but when you get into numbers/proportions, many don't qualify as a true Super Ideal cut or H&A type stone. This is even more apparent looking at the GCAL reports they include. Now, if you can find an AGS 0 cut report Signature Ideal (which are rare on BN), that can make a difference.

The HCA is a tool to help eliminate poor cut stones. A score of 2 or under is the sweet spot. Not all stones that score higher are bad, many of the Ideal cuts score between 1.0 - 1.9 and for all stones you need to get pictures, Idealscopes, ASETs, lab reports, etc to help your decision. Many vendors provide all of this on their web sites as you search their inventory.

These may very well be nice bright diamonds. I am not fond of either as I prefer tighter specs. If it were myself, I would look for an Ideal AGSL cut stone, maybe a bit smaller in the 2.0 range in a H or I maybe J color, VS2, I would also consider SI1 stones that are eye clean. An Ideal cut in a bit smaller will look as big as a ok cut in a bigger stone. Look at some Whiteflash, GOG, Infinity, Brian Gavin Diamonds, good selection to ponder.
