Tu-Tone or not tu-tone? Or, how do you feel about two-tone jewelry?

I''m trying to settle on a design for my new pear pendant, and one question keeps rearing its head: two-tone or not two-tone?

I want to bezel the pear, and I''m wondering if it will look dated if I blend two colors, or if it will make it that much more practical and wearable in the future. I am thinking of possibly using a double-bezel, yellow around white, or a white bezel with a twisted wire bezel of white and yellow going around it, or a platinum bezel with a yellow bale, or ... you get the idea. And feel free to make suggestions!

I''m not generally a fan of two-tone, but it''s just a personal preference. I don''t think it looks dated or anything like that at all! I have seen some beautiful two-tone pieces on PS.

I am not a fan of yellow gold but I have seen some two tone with pink gold that I really love. I personally only wear silver tone myself so most 2 tones don''t appeal to me. If you think it would be good for you I think it would be great.

I like it when its mostly one tone with just a hint of the other tone. I have a bracelet that is mostly white gold but has a
little bit of gold on it.

In general I frown against it because it just seems like its overdone. I think if you keep it simple and mostly one tone you will
be ok.

I love it! its a matter of personal preference. I don''t go with Trends, just what I see that works on my skin tone.

I think a hint of the other color will not look dated. Like James Mayer bezels. Just the inner bezel in yg can be really attractive.

Still, I would stick to one color metal.

+1 on the James Mayer pieces... I think they all look classic. I would do 2-tone if your pendant is created in a similar fashion!

I personally don't see two tone dated in fact, rich 18k yellow with platinum is first choice, all plat second.

I really like some two tone jewelry. A bezel with white gold or platinum around the diamond with an outer rim of yellow gold is really very pretty.

It does make a piece more practical if you wear both color metals. If not, then I''d stick to one color.

I am not a fan of two tone and I have never liked it - though I admit it does make a piece more versatile if you want things to match. I kind of like white and rose gold together but I like yellow to stand alone.

I feel the same way. I really love white & rose gold right now, but I really loved white with yellow gold in the 80s, and I''m not so into it now.
