Hello All,

So I am looking for small green garnet studs. For the second hole in my ear...so something small like 3.5mm. I was going to get sapphires (because the same person making my ring had them on sale) but I realise I wear my Malis alot in my main hole so green may look nicer. Are darker tasvorite garnets the colour they are ideally suppose to be? I ask because this is the color that was suggested to me to go with the malis but I think I like darker greens. This is not the stone, it wont be this cut etc., but I was asked if I would like a medium colour like this. If it is suppose to be this colour I will give it a shot but personally I like the darker green examples. Any input will help

If you like cabs, Richard Wise has these beauties:

(oops - I posted too soon and didn''t realise you needed small studs. But I will leave the eye candy up anyway)

The trilliant tsavorite would be about right. The other 2 on the right are so dark that they may appear almost black once worn on the ear with your hair casting additional shadows.

If you like the darker ones then might as well do some tourms. and save yourself a pocket of change. Like chrono said might be to dark for an earring stud.

Chrome diopside might work as well and might be cheaper too.

Ok I am going to request a little darker than the orignal but not as dark as those I posted...I actually like the ones listed on RH''s site (and they aren''t that dark...so maybe its the ugly cut of that stone I dont like).

The color that was suggested to you was probably suggested because you said you''ll wear it with a mali, and in that case most people would choose a lighter green for that mix. But when worn alone, it''s prefered that tsavorites are deeper (off course, without being too dark).

Oh no doubt Ma ra that is probably the reason but I find I dont mine yellow with a very slight greenish overtone...but I don't like green with a slight yellow overtone if that makes any sense...since they are the same colors but just different amounts hehe.

The latest 2 pictures you show are a nice rich green with a lovely medium tone. It''s something I would have picked for myself. The original tsavorite had a slight olive tone and some yellow too, as Ma Re said, probably to match your Mali garnets.

I agree; the color on the last two stones is fabulous! I definitely would not mind a pair of those on my ears
