probably just an error in photographing the stone. You can ask wink to retake the image if you are interested.

OK, I have been looking for hours now, and probably suffering from analysis paralysis.
thanks.

I would not worry one bit about the Cut by Infinity stones. They are beautifully cut.

I would consider this one. 1.10ct I SI1 Bigger. More in line with your budget. Lower in clarity but that wouldn't bother me because the inclusions all look very small.

You are not missing anything, but I think analysis paralysis is indeed setting in

If you buy an Infinity, or an ACA, or a BGD signature, you don''t really need to worry too much about cut. Assuming you get one of those brands, then choose a budget, choose a color you are comfortable with, choose a clarity level you are comfortable with, then get the biggest rock you can that meets those criteria!

Me personally, I would drop to an SI1 that is eye clean -- and many if not most SI1 diamonds are compleyely eye clean, meaning you cannot see any inclusions with your eyes no matter how closely your scrutinize it! And then I would go up in color a little, maybe to an H or an I. Color is more noticable in your daily wear than is clarity, so I would emphasize it a little more.

I like the one swingirl suggested.

Thanks, good advice.

This is so true. If you go with one of those you don't have to worry about the cut. Then the color and clarity are strictly personal preference.

And don't hesitate to call the vendors and talk about the stones with them. Regarding clarity ask them what they see at how many inches away they can see it. They will be honest in telling you how visible the inclusions are.

So I have been looking at WF and JA and Winks site and came across quite a few prospects.
Then I saw that the H&A post here and what to look for.
does this one have the little issue with the 2 Hearts being split a little from the back side up?
Or am I seeing things?
Looks beautiful to me, although about 1K more than I wanted to.

Its probably just the image, its a beautiful diamond.

Thank you all for the nice comments.

As the cutter and supplier, we are responsible for the pictures provided to our retailers. Over time, we have improved our photographing skills, so that should be less and less of a problem. However, we often get the negative comment from our people that our images are way too large, which might lead to ''analysis paralysis'', definitely in comparison to much smaller and less detailed photographs.

Since we think that changing our policy and reverting to less detailed photographs would be taking backward steps, I guess that we have to live with explaining this every now and then.

Live long,

so last night I went back and looked at these two

http://www.highperformancediamonds.com/index.php?page=view-id-diamond-infinity&id=682&listener=eStore&task=addToCart&eStore_ma=diamonds&eStore_pid=INF682

And Wink helped me out by saying in an e-mail...
"They are both certainly beautiful diamonds.

The advantage to the first diamond, priced at $5,823.50 with your 5% wire transfer discount, is that it is a higher color and clarity and is within the parameters that you want for color and clarity.

The advantage to the second diamond, priced at $$6,162.65 with your 5% wire transfer discount, is that it is over the magic one carat size. It is however lower in color and clarity than what YOU are wanting.

While many women will prefer size over quality, these are close enough that I think you should also take into consideration what you feel good about giving, this is an important symbol of your love after all. Thus I would vote in favor of the first diamond also. The fact that it is a few dollars less expensive and that it fits well into your parameters is also a nice bonus."

And he is right, they are both beautiful, and I guess it is up to me to make a choice, so I ask the ''hive'' for any opinions, thank-you.

About the pictures, yes I have found their quality to excellent, and they are very helpful, however I can get too caught up in looking at slight flaws and inclusions, which would never get noticed in everyday wear and viewing, but alas, want to make the best decision possible.
For some reason, I keep going back to wanting a bit higher color grade, and can''t seem to go below a VS clarity. AM I CRAZY?

If it were mine I'd prefer being able to say it's over 1 ct.

1.1 ct is a very respectable size.

I own a VVS1 and an I1. In a beautifully cut stone I prefer size over clarity.

any help?? getting close to nailing this down.

The setting is a little chunky and thick for my taste. But you know gal''s taste. It will be a beautiful ring.

Live long,
Thank goodness! Let it be widely known and published that I personally prefer the larger more detailed photos! Transparency rules!

Live long,
Any dealer who wants a smaller and less detailed image can easily use photoshop, picassa or a similar tool to reduce the size and quality as far as they would like to go. There are lots of free utilities for doing this. Unfortunately it’s terribly difficult to go the other direction so I’m with Wink, make your images as detailed as you possibly can. Perhaps it would be helpful to show the dealers some of the free utilities, it may just be that they aren''t aware of how easy it is.

Ditto, women seem to love knowing it is at the magical 1 carat mark, or over.

Well, I did it!
Going with the 1.1ct, I, SI1 from HPD.
Can''t wait to see it in person and in natural light! Should be a stunner.
One last comment about the pictures and that is this- Wink''s videos on some of his diamonds were also helpful in making my decision. They offer an entirely different view of the diamonds, and in more life-like proportions. I am sure the videos don''t do full justice to how brilliant and scintillating the Infinity diamond will be.
I''ll let you know when I get to see it up close and personal.
Thanks all for your valuable feedback.

The Diamond from HPD did come in, and I just picked it up on Tuesday. Looks fantastic.
Will work on some images to share with you all.
Thanks for all the advice and input.
Very Happy.

Glad the stone looked as good in person as it did on the website. I think those are some of the most beautifully cut stones around.

I''m really glad you got it and love it! I think you made a great choice going up in size! Photos please!
