Hello, I am currently in the process of designing an engagement ring online and these diamonds were the ones suggested to me for my price range. I don't really know which one to choose and/or if these are good prices for what they are offering.

#172869 1.04ct(6.55mm) color:F clarity:SI1 cut:very good EGL cert. $6594.00

#172870 1.04ct(6.49mm) color:G clarity:SI1 cut:ideal EGL cert. $6338.00

#174232 1.09ct(6.59mm) color:F clarity:VS2 cut:excellent EGL cert. $6750.00

In case it makes a difference in which one would be better, here is a sketch of the ring that the diamond will be placed in.

pretty much any PSer will tell you to stay away from EGLdiamond and try to look for GIA or AGS only.

If you compare those same stones to excellect or ideal cuts by GIA or AGS you will think you are getting such a great deal... but do more research there or no deals... the grading is significantly more lax and a stone graded by EGL and later apprasied will shock you. The performance of a Very Good or Good cut will never sparkle or shine like an Excellent cut stone and I am a novice and only know this from the massive amount of research done on this website and others.... do a serch on EGL on this website and start reading all the posts... We bought an EGL stone so I speak from experience and we were disappointed when it was apprasied... we upgraded before the wedding.. :read:

Wow. I think it's plainly obvious that EGL USA is using stock heart and arrows images on the report for #172869 and #172870. There's absolutely no way that stones with such different proportions can have such similar looking images.

A recent post here by a respected appraiser found color grades to be off by as much as 3 or 4 colors. Clarity can be off, too. You are much better off looking at H,I, J color GIA or AGS stones and at least you'll have an accurate idea of what you are paying for. An EGL F color is not really F color. And how are they calling a stone very good cut and hearts and arrows??? Really, I hope you will start over.

Ok, I went back and told them what I have read here, and this is a new diamond they're suggesting.

#16877229 1.21ct(6.74-6.78mm) color:I clarity:SI1 cut:very good GIA cert. $6367.00

She says it is eye clean and when put in a platinum setting, does not show any yellowing.
Also, the pricing on this diamond has not been marked up to the current, recently raised diamond prices yet.

What do you think?

My max budget, and it's a bit of a stretch is $7000. Those are a little too high for me.
