everyone here has been great for info. narrowed it down to 3 choices and looking for a recommendation. The third stone is considerably cheaper, but not sure whether i should give up that much quality that is evident in the first 2 stones.

advice on which is the best all round for quality and price?

thanks.

I would not classify the first diamond as a higher quality diamond than the third - not with a 31.7 degree crown. The best quality and price is the second diamond. Yes it is more expensive than the third but you are not only paying for a better color but also a better cut.

is a 31.7 crown just way too small? do you feel the ratio in btw table and depth is too much in the option 3?

thanks.

You didn't mention who these are graded by (GIA, AGS?), but if they are reputable graders.....the only diamond I'd consider buying of these is Diamond #2.

The first diamond's pavilion angle is far too steep, and it has a fairly good-sized culet. There is positively NO way diamond #1 should be more expensive than #2.....it's lower in color and considerably weaker in cut. Either the information is wrong or the price is horribly inflated.

Diamond #3 is OK.....it's a color grade lower than #2, and it has VG/VG instead of EX/EX of #2. Most important, the pavilion angle is just at the edge of where the diamond leaks more light......not nearly as optimally cut as diamond #2.

Diamond #2 looks on paper to be a fabulous find, but you should get scope images and talk to the vendor about it. Perhaps he can send pics/scopes to you, or you can have it brought to appraiser near you for approval.
