Hello everyone,

I purchased a beautiful vintage setting from Marc Samuels jeweler in Frisco, TX and it is now time to set the diamond. I recently have read some bad reviews for Marc Samuels and I am unsure now if I want them to set my diamond as I don't want to get ripped off or have the diamond "misplaced" while in the process of setting, or secretly switched out for another stone. It is a family diamond and I only want it to be in the best of hands during this process (ideally I would like to watch the whole process just to be safe).

My question to all of you is: have you heard of Marc Samuels in Frisco and if so, do you recommend them or would you recommend another jeweler in the area to do this type of work?

Thank you!!

My local go-to jeweler is Sergio's Jewelry in Casa Linda - I go to them for a lot of things - any repairwork I want done, basic settings, setting stones I have, their antique jewelry (they have a little case of lovely things), chains, etc.

However I would like to add that it is EXTREMELY RARE for a jeweler to switch out your diamond or lose it. That's a business-ending move. Buy a loupe and learn the inclusions of your stone so you can always tell if it's yours. At Sergio's, you can use the big magnifier hooked up to the computer and I'm sure they'd be willing to show you.

Yeah that's true that it is a business ending move if they did that. I think I am overthinking things. That is a good idea though to get a loupe and learn the stone so I know. I am going to do that, thanks for the advice!
