Trump Wants To Cut Money For Covid19 Testing

You're wrong. Deaths are rising as well as cases. Fatality numbers lag behind case numbers because it typically takes 2-3 weeks after diagnosis for people to die.
yes well said and sad.

unfortunately I know a medical professional who is not taking it serious and is heading out on a trip with an elderly parent and a child with heath issues to a hotzone for a vacation.
Wanted someone close to me to go with but they said no.
So that a medical profession is blowing it off does not surprise me one bit but greatly saddens me.
They also think masks are useless outside of patient care.

@Musia - Sorry that you're being "eaten alive" by those who aren't gracious enough to see your side. I may not agree with all that you're saying however, I do respect your opinion and would hope that others would not raise their tail feathers so high and mighty regarding your thoughts. You're in the minority here and should expect to be degraded for thinking outside of THEIR box.

Er, no. Let's not do that. This is a serious issue that drastically affects people's lives. Repeating misinformation that others might believe and act on is dangerous, not a legitimate "side."

And correcting someone on that misinformation, about a very serious issue that includes medical and financial disaster on a large scale, is not "ungracious," "eating someone alive" nor in any other way victimizing them.

If labs report false positive cases, then the number or "infected people" is high, and states are starting going back to closing businesses and keeping people inside their homes. Dining inside is now prohibited again, hair saloons were opened for only 2 days and my daughter spent several hours waiting in line for a haircut. And I even don't know whether Trump indeed wants to cut money for testing or not. The number of cases is up but the % of deaths from Covid is down.

@Musia, you wrote that you did not know if President Trump actually wanted to cut money for covid19 testing, which is badly needed to help end the pandemic killing Americans. (We have 4.5% of the world's population but are responsible for 25% of the covid19 deaths worldwide.)

Since you have said you do not trust "The New York Times" (which is very reliable), here is another source for you. But President Trump can be heard on Fox News telling Chris Wallace that he wants to cut funding for testing. So you can see and hear it for yourself if you remain skeptical.

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is trying to block billions of dollars for states to conduct testing and contact tracing in the upcoming coronavirus relief bill, people involved in the talks said Saturday.

The administration is also trying to block billions of dollars that GOP senators want to allocate for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and billions more for the Pentagon and State Department to address the pandemic at home and abroad, the people said.

By the way, I kow you mean well when you post, but @Alexiszoe hit the nail on the head when she said that you need to learn to tell fact from opinion. I like the link she posted.

which is badly needed to help end the pandemic killing Americans

Thank you Deb. Now I am seriously thinking of getting tested. While it is still available.

When he said he told the staff to slow down the testing I thought
Whoever supports this idiot must be crazy. I just saw that $400,000 of his campaign money was paid to his personal business for a Mar a Lago retreat. He has no shame, and is always ready to set a new low.
Sorry, I missed the question. My family members who are medical professionals are not hiding inside their homes, they do shopping, we have a family times together, no masks. SIL's family spends happy times together too. His mother who votes Blue visited him and his family as well as her daughter's family in June, she lives in Spokane, WA. She is breast cancer survival, she has a mild asthma and she is 63. DIL doesn't work for hospital, she is in a research and development of new drugs. Does shopping, meets her girlfriends who are also pharmacists, brings her daughter to the nearest park and allows her to play with some other children. Is this information also a part of my misinformation campaign? I hope I answered your question.

Um, what? My family is crawling with health care professionals (and pre-professionals) and you better believe we mask up. My parents live in the land of idiocy where nearly everyone is a Trump supporter and a non-wearer of masks. And now they have a huge outbreak of the virus because they were so stupid.

The facts are these.

1. Covid is contagious and it can be a deadly disease.

2.Masks help protect against infection.

3. Social distancing helps protect against infection.

4. Hand washing helps prevent infection.

In an editorial published today in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), CDC reviewed the latest science and affirms that cloth face coverings are a critical tool in the fight against COVID-19 that could reduce the spread of the disease, particularly when used universally within communities. There is increasing evidence that cloth face coverings help prevent people who have COVID-19 from spreading the virus to others.

“We are not defenseless against COVID-19,” said CDC Director Dr. Robert R. Redfield. “Cloth face coverings are one of the most powerful weapons we have to slow and stop the spread of the virus – particularly when used universally within a community setting. All Americans have a responsibility to protect themselves, their families, and their communities.”

This review included two case studies out today, one from JAMA, showing that adherence to universal masking policies reduced SARS-CoV-2 transmission within a Boston hospital system, and one from CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), showing that wearing a mask prevented the spread of infection from two hair stylists to their customers in Missouri.

Additional data in today’s MMWR showed that immediately after the White House Coronavirus Task Force and CDC advised Americans to wear cloth face coverings when leaving home, the proportion of U.S. adults who chose to do so increased, with 3 in 4 reporting they had adopted the recommendation in a national internet survey.

The results of the Missouri case study provide further evidence on the benefits of wearing a cloth face covering. The investigation focused on two hair stylists — infected with and having symptoms of COVID-19 — whose salon policy followed a local ordinance requiring cloth face coverings for all employees and patrons. The investigators found that none of the stylists’ 139 clients or secondary contacts became ill, and all 67 clients who volunteered to be tested showed no sign of infection.

The finding adds to a growing body of evidence that cloth face coverings provide source control – that is, they help prevent the person wearing the mask from spreading COVID-19 to others. The main protection individuals gain from masking occurs when others in their communities also wear face coverings.
