Trump Pulls Back Protections For Women Workers

I don't understand. Are you saying that all the other people that are not like you, are not "good" people?

The other way around. Posters here have said I am not a good person because of my beliefs.

I didn't realize it was "tradition"
Yes traditionalist comes from the word tradition.

To believe in the ways you were raised.

This coming from a pack of she wolves criticizing the looks of other people.

I no longer respond to hypocrites.

Except you do respond, and you call them names like "she-wolves," which I assume is meant to be derogatory. Thank you for the giggle. Would you not agree, Ruby, that we all have a little hypocrite in us?

I love how a thread about men shitting on women's rights turns into IT'S WOMEN'S FAULT, DUH.
I don't think anyone was saying that. 1) The executive order only applied to gov't contractors. 2) There are already federal laws against discrimination by sex or otherwise that actually cover ALL employers not just federal contractors. How about enforcing the law if people are breaking it? No, lets waste time making a new law for the same exact thing since the 1st one worked out so well. Laws are useless without enforcement.

I was just making a real life observation about what I witnessed. I'm not blaming women for anything. I'm just not getting all caught up in alarmist media headlines saying this takes away women's rights which it does not.

When a group of women who call themselves progressive make fun of the way someone looks, what would you call them.

I am sick of the all liberal women are perfect and white men and anyone in the Trump family are scum mentality.

Why the need for real life observations that all involve women being difficult to work with and taking advantage, etc., etc.? Certainly you can see what the thread devolved into, which was several posters chiming in to contribute anecdotal evidence of this being an issue related to women making things difficult for everyone else. Everyone else being men, of course. I have no stake in the game; I work with women and men who support women and not for a large corporation or organization requiring a union, so I'm merely observing what happened in this thread as an outsider. Simply pointing something out that might not be readily apparent isn't a personal criticism, just an observation. If the point of these responses that include anecdotes is only to make it clear that the law does not take away women's rights, why not just back that up/specify WHY it doesn't, instead of also saying, oh by the way, women at xyz company were succubuses and I know because my uncle's brother's cousin worked there. (Obviously I'm being hyperbolic but you get the idea.)

This was posted to someone else, but I was told something similar when I first posted here that this was a Liberal board and I may be happier somewhere else.

I see no reason why this person or any other poster cannot speak from experience. What are you (collective) afraid of?

Oh please Monnie, we all know this is you at "the office"

Yes I see how it went downhill. I was pretty much just typing like I think and sort of got sidetracked with the merit pay and behaviors of the sexes. It's all very interesting to me... But you are right. We got side tracked. I think all the headlines are purposefully deceiving and if the time was taken to actually read the executive order there would be a better understanding. My niece is one who never reads what she reposts. She just reads the headlines, believes it, and reposts it. I would also think those truly concerned with their rights as women would know or at least research what laws protect them before getting all caught up in the hype. I don't work for a government contractor. That order did zip for me anyway.

Again what does the actions of one person have to do with all the other working women in this country and elsewhere.

If you were the manager responsible for getting reports out on time or the other workers who have to do their work and others, I do not think you would feel the same.

It is a very real problem in businesses, especially those who work on teams, when you have a weak link, man or woman.

That is why getting back to the original premise, salary should be based on merit, not longevity or whether you are a man or a woman.

BUSTED. That laptop, tho!!!!!!!!!
Meryl Streep, color coordinating with her pink Zenith. She Devil (ha!) is one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies.

Yep I am the manager... and I pick up the slack lol. Because no matter what I say to employee X who has 30+ years, he isn't going to work harder and my boss is never going to get rid of him due to loyalty. So... it's basically is going to be like this till he retires or I get another job. The rest of my office is wonderful... and they listen and try harder etc when something is addressed. They also don't have 30 years and were placed in their positions after I was here so I am able to manage them much easier.

Kbell, I agree--one of the cardinal sins of the internet is impulsive posting before reading based on WOW I KNEW IT responses to headlines without taking time to read the content or verify it.

Ruby, I never said people couldn't speak from personal experience. What I am pointing out is that this is a thread about protections for women workers allegedly being pulled back and that instead of simply discussing whether or not the existing law needed to be done away with because it was redundant or if there actually was an issue with this, people started talking about how awful women are to work with. The last part seemed unproductive to me and had little to do with the point of the thread; it seemed like women-bashing. As far as why I bothered to point this out, I think it's important if we are to change society's attitudes towards and speech about women we need to call out when this type of thing happens. If the thread were titled "are women difficult to work with" then sure, bring on all the anecdotes you like. But it wasn't. That's all.

Monnie the point I was making in the beginning of this thread was that the article did not tell the whole story and was meant to spin people up. It worked. Yes it got off track in a hurry and that is too bad. Hopefully this little experiment thread lets people know to do a little more research before spinning out of control. If an article cites things with links then it helps to look at the original info to make up your own mind.

Trickery! Sorcery! You MUST be a woman to conduct such an "experiment" and play with our heads like that!!!:lol::lol: But seriously, fair enough. Just as it is necessary and a good reminder to us all to look deeper than the surface of these crazy ass headlines, it is also necessary and good to point out when we start turning on each other (generally speaking)...and for what?

My husband is covering for them because certain reports have to go out on certain days and it is up to him to make sure the report is complete.

And I am not referring to maternity leave here or being home with a sick kid of relative, just women working on their tans and knowing how to work the system.

Well I'm assuming your husband knows how the system works too and he should write them up, one has to take a stand if he's being screwed over by women who are gaming the state system it's up to him to bring it to his management's attention.

It's a utility company that's been around forever and ever and trust me - I wish there wasn't such a thing as "stress leave" but there was and they got paid & bragged about it. I got paid the same as the guy sitting across from me falling asleep at his desk lol. It was frustrating for managers too - some are friends of mine & they can't do anything about pay. It's bargained that way - by job title.
I know this happens in non union too. The office I manage isn't union. The laziest person here has 30+ years and I guess he figures now he can just coast and do nothing. Maybe he used to be productive, I wouldn't know because I wasn't here then. I only know now he does next to nothing and makes everyone else's job harder while he curses & sighs every time he gets a call or email and then complains he's bored!

Can't do anything about it cause he's old.. well he should retire soon enough SSA calls him!

I agree because I don't want to turn on anyone. Just looking for the same respect everyone else likes I suppose. We are all in the giant boat together. ;)
