This was mentioned in a several page thread, that not everyone will notice.
Sunlight being the best disinfectant, Trump's latest white supremacy dog whistle deserves its own thread title - harder to not notice.

People have asked, how low will he go?
I think this is the lowest, so far.

Not all Trump supporters are racists and anti-Semitic, but all Trump supporters are perfectly willing to support a racist and anti-Semite. It’s just not a dealbreaker for them as long as their stock portfolios are doing well.

These are trial balloons to see how overt they can be. I expect it to ramp way up.

Between COVID and this total circus of an election I’m absolutely dreading the fall and winter.

Insightful perspective:

"Trump’s supporters reassure themselves that he and they are not racist by defining racism incredibly narrowly. A supporter at a recent rally defended Trump against the charge of racism by insisting, “He didn’t say nothing about the color of somebody’s skin.” By implication, if Trump attacks people’s culture, religion or country of origin but avoids mentioning biology, it’s not racism.

But for most Trump supporters, his underlying appeal remains largely racist in nature. As the political scientists John Sides, Michael Tesler and Lynn Vavreck report in their book “Identity Crisis,” a study of the 2016 election, support for Trump “was strongly linked to how Republican voters felt about blacks, immigrants, and Muslims, and to how much discrimination Republican voters believed that whites themselves faced.”

that doesn’t come as a surprise. People need to think of themselves as good people, even when it’s not true.

What the op ed posits is that your statement that not all trump supporters are racist is false. At the very least, those more interested in their stock portfolios to the point where they'll vote for and continue to support trump makes them bad people (imo).

consider.
this was obviously was going to be taken down. But the dog whistle was blown.White supremacists will go on their forums and share the screenshot and praise his truth to elitists.
it won’t be seen by too many Republican because this was swiftly removed. And you think the late night fox tv shows will be beating this drum?
gets What hes after. Stir up his base and doesn’t need to worry about how he’s portrayed to his supporters.

I'm worried about my mental health it is all so depressing. But looking at your avatar of Yul Brynner makes it a lot easier.

Disgusting, demoralizing and yet so unsurprising. And still his Jewish sil and daughter say nothing. Harkens back to the late 1930’s.

Still, zillions, and many here on PS, will vote for him again.

WTF has happened to my country? :cry2:

Yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnn!!! Lets feel all superior and call political opponents names!

“Yawn” @Karl_K? As an American, aren’t you offended that anyone is using Nazi symbols in this day and age? I’m not name calling anyone. I’m expressing my opinion that I’m disgusted, demoralized and unsurprised. It saddens me that an American president would use such images after the horrors of the Holocaust and the losses of so many AllieD forces in WW II.

The current American President loves Israel, didn't he move the Embassy to Jerusalem?

To suggest that someone know about the symbol and used it for that meaning is far fetched.
How ever....
If it was done intentionally it was just to trigger the left into looking like fools again.
Like the stupidity with the ok sign and trying to say it meant white power.

Musia - what about Israel and the Jewish people irks you? Frankly I don’t know whom President Trump loves but himself. These posts are concerning. I’m confused - are you supporting antisemitism?

Karl, look up dog whistle.

Dog whistles emit a frequency too high for humans to hear, so humans don't notice when it is being blown.
But dogs can hear higher frequencies than humans so they can hear a dog whistle.

Likewise white supremacists recognize, in this case, Nazi symbols while the general public usually do not.

Trump knows exactly what he's doing.

I don't think it was the intention. Who knew about the red triangle as a mark in Nazi camps? Even children who survived are now older than 75.

Where/what are you reading from that post that suggests Musia is irked by Israel or Jewish people? She was clearly - to me - saying POTUS supports both.

my take on it also.
Also the international danger warning signs are triangles and point up squares and some of them are red triangles both pointing up and down are they Nazi also?

Ok @Karl_K - I’d hope our President was smart enough and knew the history of such symbolism to avoid even a hint of antisemitism. Or at least have someone on his team who knew what it meant.

It was also your “yawn” that I found upsetting. As a Jew, I’m not yawning at Nazi symbolism. I hope you’re not either. Because Hitler also killed a lot of Christians, LGTBQ, Gypsys, Allied forces (with whom my American jewish grandfather served and was injured in theUS Army) and others. Whatever it was, I didn’t like it.

Ah - you’d have to read her posts here together with her posts to Missy’s about antisemitism.

I had an uncle now passed that was there when a concentration camp was liberated.
He would never talk about it except to say it was hell.

The yawn was about the same old same old name calling that's been going on here for a long time now.

And no I do not expect everyone to know every possible symbol that might mean something bad.
Particularly one that is in common use around the world with other meanings.

See how you react? Did I say something inappropriate about Jewish people or Israel? I don't see in Trump's red triangle Nazi symbol because it isn't. You wanted to know more about me, here is what I have on my old fridge. And I also have something on my bookshelf. And many more things at home that can show my love and respect for Judaism. Any person who comes to my apartment may conclude that I am Jewish. But I am not. My maternal grandfather's mother was Jewish so he was a Jew by Jewish law. His wife was Ukrainian (Slavic). That's why my mom wasn't Jewish by Jewish law. What else you wanted to know about me? I checked your account and didn't learn anything about you. Did you block it? IMG_1511 (2).JPGIMG_1513 (2).JPG

I don’t like name calling either. Where you and I disagree is that President Trump is the POTUS and I expect that either he or one of his experts, generals, family (who are Jewish) or someone on his smart re-election team to know. They aren’t “everyone.” They are the employees of the leader of the free world. These aren’t dummies!

You think saying some are racist is name calling?

You don't think labeling people as "left" and "fools" isn't negative stereotyping?

You think it's ok to ignore symbols related to hate groups? The ok symbol is used by white power groups.

Musia - I’m Jewish. An American Jew. Part AmericanGerman Jew. Part American Russian Jew. Did I block you? Nope.

Let’s agree to disagree on POTUS.

Cindy

The ok symbol is used by white power groups.
So is the middle finger.
The ok thing stated out as a bunch of kids on 4chan seeing if they could make it a racist thing with the gullible.
They did.
I dont buy into it and if someone complains about the ok sign should I decide to use it they can have the double bird for being idiots.

So you just disproved your previous statement. You said "Like the stupidity of the ok sign trying to say it meant white power" when it does mean that. Were you referring to the issue of the cadet who flashed the ok symbol and people questioned his motives? Do you know that white supremacy is rampant in the military? It's easy to find the info.

Perhaps you should reevaluate your perspective on human nature if you think only "gullible" people are susceptible to racist imaging.
