travel for a diamond?

Hello,

I am new to this board and new to diamond shopping. I am doing as much research as I can. I am fortunate that I can travel, pretty much anywhere in the world for free. Where is the best place in the world to buy a loose stone? I mean for both quality and price? Or am I better off just saving the hassle and shopping in a local area (Dallas, New York, Chicago)?

The best place for quality and price is probably on the internet. Although buying at your local jeweler may cost you more, you will always have that jeweler there for free cleanings, sizings, repairs, etc. It can also be nice to be able to see the diamonds in person, but you have to make sure the jeweler carries the quality you are looking for.

What are you looking for in terms of cut quality?
