Tragic car accident...

My cousin M's fiancee lost her younger sister J to a car accident tonight. Not many details, but she was a passenger in a car with 2 friends, who both survived the crash. No alcohol/drugs involved, just a freak accident. My other cousin (M's little sister) was very close friends with J for many years, and is in shock. It is such a tragedy. J had just turned 21, and when my brother ran into her out at a bar the other night, they were talking about how fun it is that we'll all be related after the wedding this summer.

I am so heartbroken for her family and for my cousins... they have been going through so much this past year (my aunt and uncle are going through a very tough divorce)... this is just hard to process. J's AIM away message earlier tonight was so cheerful and happy... to go from that, to no longer living, in just a few hours... it's almost impossible to comprehend. The message is actually still up.

Anyway, just asking for thoughts/prayers for my cousins, if possible... I am aching for them.

I am so sorry. Just tragic. I must say, these freak accidents are more scary, I have heard of this happening, no speeding, no drinking, and it just is so sad. Makes me want to keep my kids from driving as long as I can which I know is not the answer.

My heart goes out to her parents. It will be a long road. I just cannot imagine the pain they are in now and will be in for the rest of their lives.

These types of tragedies really get to me more than others because they are just so unfair.

The AIM message just adds to it. I''ve seen similiar messages on myspace, and I always have trouble shaking them. I think the same things you do, ephemery--about the abruptness of it all and how scary/unfair/sad it is. It just seems so unreal.

I will pray for your cousin''s family. No one should ever have to go that young.

Oh ephemery I''m so sorry to hear this. Seven years ago my friend''s brother was killed in a freak car crash too, it''s so awful, such a waste of a wonderful young life. P was in the back seat and the three others all walked away without a scratch.

My friend died 2.5 years ago and I can''t bring myself to delete his emails from the day before his death. They''re silly little messages but they are comforting reminders of how happy he was. His wedding was to be the next day.

Ephemery, I am so sorry for your loss. This type of unexpected loss of a young life is extremely difficult to understand. BF and I have lost a close friend early last week, he was shot and killed in his car (along with another friend of his). It is hard to comprehend how just days ago, they were full of life and energy and now they are gone. But it is comforting to know that they themselves are in a better place, it is family and friends that are left suffering because they will miss their loved ones. Prayers for you and your cousins.
