Tragic car accident...

Ephemery, I'm so sorry. This winter, three young people in my parents' small town died in terrible, fluke accidents, and it really is unbearably hard to deal with. My sympathies to you all.

I can't thank everyone enough for so much kindness and support. It is such a sad, depressing thing that I actually felt badly posting it last night... but I have so much faith in the power of thoughts/prayers that it felt like the only thing I could do to help my cousins and J's family in some small way. Now you've all made me so glad that I did post it.

And also thank you to everyone who shared their own similar experiences. I lost a close friend in a different senseless car accident, 10 years ago this month, and it's been hard not to think of him today. Crazy how he will forever be 19 years old in my memory, and now J will never be older than 21 to all of her family and friends. That's one of the worst things about losing somebody so young, I think. That feeling of having to leave them behind as everyone else goes through graduations and weddings and children and everything else life brings. I can't even imagine how bittersweet my cousin's wedding is going to be in August. J was the maid of honor.

Again, I am so grateful to each of you for letting me put this out there, and for the strength you've lent to my family today. Love to you all.

Oh my gosh ephemery I''m so sorry to hear this. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I had a good friend pass away years ago (2000) when he was driving up to CO to see his girlfriend. I can''t imagine the pain she must have felt, but it was so hard for me to lose him...

This just breaks my heart. Losing someone as such a young age is uncomprehesnable. I can''t imagine the pain her friends and espeicaly her family are going through. Makes me want to hold on to my child and never let her go.
