I give my mom all our top sheets, and she rips them into strips and weaves them into rugs with her loom. :)

i give away all the fitted sheets
sometimes it seems impossible to buy just a flat sheet on its own
but perhaps thats another thread !

As an aside, I saw a set of my sheets on a bed in Emily of Paris! Must have been old props in storage. LOL.

Gave up the top sheet in warmer weather after a visit to Iceland. (They had his-and-hers duvets everywhere, too, but that was a bridge too far.) Still keep top sheet for the winter. Washing the duvet cover with every linen change is a nuisance (so I have observed :cool2:), but I am not the decider on any of these matters.
 
We always use a top sheet and a duvet, or as we call it here a doona with cover. It gets very hot in our summers so I often throw off the doona and use the top sheet if it’s get too hot. With the air con running, it’s too cold to sleep without any covers.

And I sleep with a winter comforter all year long. I keep it very chilly in the bedroom no matter the season and find it the best way to sleep and the winter comforter is soooo soft. With the top sheet.

I find it very luxurious.

Here's a photo showing our top sheet peeking out. Please excuse the messy bed. The kitties prefer it that way what can I say and they rule the roost so to speak. :lol:

No way. Just a weighted blanket. I can’t sleep without my weighted blanket.
 
Before reading this, it never occurred to me that people wouldn’t use the top sheet! So yes, I use a top sheet. The crisper, the better in my opinion but that can be hard to find—soft seems to be what is mostly sold.

You are so right Kenny. They are little imps and I think they are planning on eating us when we aren't looking. Just want everyone to know I enjoyed my time here very much. And I just have one word to share with you if I go missing.

so the moral of this thread is make the bed the way the kitty cats like it !
ive noticed in the summer they like the sheet and in the winter they like the top cover

it is true i brought the duvet cover and the furry blanket in grey to match Borris (but turns iut grey is quite hard to match:lol-2:)
right now Fluffy is asleep on the stop sheet up by the pillows

Or Tinky, our thing together was making the bed
he usually was a very gentle boy where humans were concerned but we played a very dangerouse game making the bed
he would play beneath each layer as i made it, his claws sticking out through the fabric
Borris doesnt see the point :lol-2: and Tibby just wanted to sleep on the bed:lol:
he always slept with a back leg hanging over the edge
but bed changing day two days ago and i think the Fluffa Duffa is catching on:appl:

No -- the duvet cover is percale just like the bottom (fitted) sheet and they usually are part of a set. So it is actually more hygienic than a two-sheet set-up since the duvet you pull up to your chin is as crisp and clean as your fresh sheets. Unlike plenty of hotels and, presumably, all AirBnBs, etc.

i dont know what it is with fitted sheets but i fight them too
i always end up with them on the wrong way and they ping off

or if i do get them on they wait till 1am to ping off and roll us up

And the game wouldnt work with a fitted sheet
Kitty cant get out the bottom of the bed as eaiserly

okay, well this confuses me. If my hotel changes my top and bottom sheets, isn't that as clean as a hotel that changes the bottom sheet and the duvet cover? And if the hotel doesn't change the top sheet, why would I think they change the duvet cover? I must be missing something. Or are you assuming that there is a dirty blanket on top of the top sheet? That may be true.

Are you sure they are deep enough? if they are the right size, they shouldn't "ping" off.
