I finallly got a loupe and took more pictures of my new Facets band. It looks to me like the stone in the center is smaller and the stones are not set in a straight line. Am I just seeing things? The guy I bought if from tells me there's absolutely nothing wrong with the band but i'm really leaning toward returning it.

Here''s another picture. The band is on a flat surface but not all the stones are touchng the surface. Please tell me it can look better than this.

Well, all I will say is if this is bothering you now, I don''t think it is going to stop. If you are not happy, then just return the band and buy from another company. Otherwise, you might be staring at this slightly smaller stone for years to come!!

I think it looks crooked because the center stone in particular is smaller? It looks like there is an equal amt of diamond above and below the bar for each stone...and since that one stone seems significantly smaller, it doesn''t touch the surface.

I don''t have an eternity band (bar set or otherwise) to know if this is a normal occurrence, but it would probably bother me if it were mine.

Ok- you''re crazy!

j/k

Isn''t SP convenient for you? Why not take a trip back to the store and tell them you''re not happy and pick something else; or return it altogether.
You must be happy with diamonds. It''s the law.

Thanks guys! I know i''m insane to be staring at this thing for hours and taking pictures of it but i knew you''d understand. I''m going to return the band, I did go back to see if they could fix it but they said there was nothing wrong with it. So guess i''ll have to look elsewhere.

You''re not crazy...there is definitely a "lift" in the band, but I want to believe it''s more the metal and less the size of the stones (at least with my eyes)...the important thing is that if you''re not happy and you''re going to obsess over it, then you''re better off getting something you''re happy with...life''s too short to worry about this...get yourself something that''ll ease your mind...

Did they even look at it to tell you that "nothing is wrong" or did they tell you that over the phone? If they haven''t done so already, they should at least offer to take a look and see what you''re talking about.

Do you only see the variation with the loupe or is it easily spotted without magnification?

I would not return it until one of the jewellers/experts on here have commented. Do you have a small ring size. I have a 7 stone half eternity type ring which is prong set and the diamonds going around the side look larger than the ones on top yet there are the same size. I think it has to do with the metal as someone said and the fact that you are looking at the diamonds at an angle rather than face on. I know I notice this with my ring but the diamonds are definitely the same size.

The pictures show a ... perfect ring. Which probably means that I don''t know what to look for. If you don''t like it and the seller would take it back, there''s no reason tnot to, I would think.

Have you tried out locally some similar design ?

|t may also have to do with the setting being bar set that they cannot tilt the diamonds in the same way due to finger size or how low they are set.

Wow, thank you all for your feedback! Feydakin, thanks for the pictures and your detailed explanation. I'm not sure who asked but yes, i can easily see the difference without the loupe and with the ring on my finger, not just lying on a flat surface, some stones just look smaller than others. I am in New York so SP is local and they did examine the ring in person when i took it back and said it was fine. I realize that I'm probably just being incredibly anal but I don't know if i can live with this. I don't know if a band like this but with callibrated stones is in my budget, perhaps I'll just have to look for a completely different kind of band.

I see exactly what you are saying. I have a five stone bar set band from Gemlock and the stones are a little off as well. I don''t know whether it''s a common problem with bar set rings?? I wish you luck in finding the perfect band, I am picky too!!

In the end you have to be happy with the purchase. What about taking it back to SP and asking to see another ring in this same style? Can you do an exchange? If that 2nd ring is still the same, and it bothers you, then maybe you should try a different style? Good luck!

El, what did you decide?

Just wanted to follow up on my w-band saga. Fiance and I returned it to SP yesterday. Their customer service is great, they took it back no questions asked and offerred to make a new one instead. I decided not to go this route because I''ve fallen in love with a completely different kind of band at Niwaka. It has just a very thin line of diamonds but it''s very neat and different and incredibly well-made. Of course I''ll post pictures when I get it, which is, sadly, five weeks from now. Again, thanks to all of you for your advice.

Ask for a ring that has calibrated diamonds all the same size. It can be done. There are plenty of manufactures that sell them that way. Good Luck.

Well, it was very nice of them to offer to make another ring for you! But glad you feel in love with another band! Can''t wait for the pics!
