Hi Angie,

Quite honestly, diamonds are NOT an investment... they are a luxury. Nothing more, nothing less. Therefore, if I were you, I''d focus much less on which diamond would appreciate more in value, and much more on which one looks better to *you*. Oftentimes it comes down to just seeing them in real life... so go shopping (I''m sure that shouldn''t be a problem

Hope this helps!

Hi Angie, welcome to Pricescope!

Tony made some excellent points, nothing I can really add except to say that if you ever try to resell, it is usual to only recoup 30 - 50% of the price you originally paid. Diamonds are rather like new cars, as soon as you drive them away you lose a considerable amount of money. If you would like to go with a larger diamond one day, it might be best to buy from a vendor who has a lifetime upgrade policy such as GOG, that way you can increase the size as finances permit.

Thanks for the suggestion O(¡É_¡É)O
The reason that i am asking about the price apprecation is because i would like to change a bigger diamond some time in the future. Seems like GOG has this kind police, so i am not worry about it too much now. I like both H&A and Solasfera. However, for a $8000 budget, which kind should i choose? (i would like the diamond has 3EX, no fluorescence, G color or better, 1ct+, no culet, VS2+)

Good old gold, whiteflash, and brian gavin diamonds all have great upgrade policies but as far as I know, none are based on appreciation. Typically it is based on purchase price. Pick the diamond you like the most at the vendor who has an upgrade policy that works the best for you.

Angie, with some buy back policies you get less than you originally paid, with an upgrade policy you can in some cases be credited the full amount against another diamond, this method would probably be suitable for you. Diamonds themselves are not good investments at all, unless you have some incredibly rare stone - which is well beyond the means of most people - then diamonds do not appreciate regrettably. The three diamonds you mention are of different brands and cutting styles, so it really comes down to personal preference which you choose. Maybe Jon could do a comparison video for you if you had specific diamonds in mind if you asked him. Also if you decide to purchase just check that the particular diamond you wish to buy does in fact come with an upgrade policy.
