Crazy story.

I was watering one of my flower baskets and something shiny caught my eye. I looked down and found this gem! Immediately, I ran to my jewelry box and was much relieved to see all of my baubles were appropriately accounted for. So my question is, real or fake?? Can anyone tell? I have no idea. I have no idea what I'm doing with a loop or an asset scope thingy. (The scope was sent by Victor Canera when I got my earrings.). Anyway, here are some poorly attempted photos and I will try to figure out how to upload a video.

I haven't even cleaned it yet - just wiped it off with a cloth. I do see one black speck within it.

Thoughts? I've never been lucky in anything but it sure is shiny. thumbnail_IMG_6592.jpgthumbnail_IMG_6584.jpg

*This is just my opinion, I'm not an expert*
I know an easy way to tell if it's real or CZ.
Look at all the top facets. If you see that the facets aren't perfectly aligned or wonky, then it's probably a simulant. A genuine diamond of this size and clarity would be cut very well, not wonky.
Compare to your real diamonds and you will see what I mean.

I can actually see the bad faceting in your photo. Those gaps between the star facets are a dead giveaway.
I'm sure there are some badly cut diamonds out there, but this is typical of CZ.

Kinda looks like the girdle is polished smooth in the video.
not definitive but would have me lean towards a simulant.

Thanks for the input! Probably fell out of a Cracker Jack box or something. LOL. I'll run it by my jeweler next time I'm there just to be sure.

Mystery solved. It scratched up with sandpaper so it went in the trash! I still have no idea where it came from!

Sometimes the crows that visit my yard leave shiny things. A bit of foil, or some shiny plastic string. I leave them walnuts 2x a week and suet in the winter and I think that's their way of saying thank you.
