Been looking for a round diamond for a ring. I was offered the following from a jewlery maker:

EGL Certified
1.01 Carat
Clarity: IF
Color: F
6.5x6.4x3.9mm
D 62
T 60
Price: $4650.00 cash price

I cant believe it but dealers holds true.

Could this be real?

Price sounds very goog indeed! Similar stones are listed in the Internet for about $8k and up.

Can you verify it with independent appraiser?

That's what I will have to work on. I will ask and see what he says. What is the procedure if one what's to get independent appraisal done?

Thanks

The cut is not going to be the greatest, but at that pricee you can always recut it.
Sounds too good to be true?

Most of the appraisers on the link on the front page are credit autorised and the dealers would often be happier shipping to them than to you (less risk of reverse credit card fraud).

But if the stone has been switched (ie it is not the stone that matches the cert) the dealer might be reluctant (surprise surprise).
