told off by a vendor for asking too many questions...GRRRR

Re: told off by a vendor for asking too many questions...GRR

"the stone was completely milky and one of the other stones "looked black" and the other one "looked yellow with a bit of a hole in the table"

I almost snorted my drink when I read this.

I agree with the posters above that the vendor should not have been rude to you. They could have been honest about their lack of ability to give the level of customer service you needed.

I've been shopping around for custom settings, but am gun shy because I have had one bad experience with custom work. At one very high end B&M store, a salesperson kindly volunteered to get in settings/rings for me to try (close to what I want for a custom job) just to make sure I like what I think I like. I think this is very reasonable. I interpret this as partly meaning that I may be a difficult customer to please, but I think he's actually correct and I appreciate his willingness to work on a way to minimize the risk to both of us. Will this cost me more money? Heck yes--it's of the highest end stores in DC, and I would be paying for the customer service.

I actually had a funny experience with B2C. I live-chated with one of their sales reps. I was cuurious why one of their stones with seemingly great numbers, clarity, color, etc, had a GIA certificate dated 5+ years ago. The guy gave me a canned response that the cutter ws keeping the stone as an investment in his lockbox. So, I asked him what kind of cut was the stone, whether it was an excellent or very good, or good. He told me that it was even better - it was a "great" cut. So, I laughed, thanked him, and ended the chat. :D

I would be looking to deal with someone as well!!!!!! I dont care if you are spending $5 or $5000! I cant stand rude sales people! Good job for saying I LL TAKE NOTHING THEN buh-BYE

Re: told off by a vendor for asking too many questions...GRR

UPDATE!

B2C actually took the initiative to email me expressing their apologies and stating that this is not at all representative of their normal customer service. They're now offering me a discount on a setting so i'm in the process of talking to them and will sort it out tomorrow. If you've seen my other thread, you'll know i've been looking for a decently priced halo so this may be a blessing in disguise. I'll keep everybody updated!!

Re: told off by a vendor for asking too many questions...GRR

Just wanted to say that I started contacting B2C customer service nearly a month ago to see if I could find out the crown height percentage on a couple of ovals. I started with the contact form on their website, received no response and move onto emailing them directly. Still no response. I then tried the online chat, where the representative said he would "try" to get the info to me via email. That was 6 days ago and still no email. If they can't get the info at least send a message stating so! Now, I know this information isn't available on the GIA certificate for fancy shapes, but I have asked other online vendors and received a response in less than a day.

I'd be happy to buy the diamonds elsewhere at a higher price from a vendor that truly values customer service.

Re: told off by a vendor for asking too many questions...GRR

This is their "normal" standards and I experienced it too. When I sent in inquiries to purchase diamonds, I have got to follow up a couple of times before getting a reply. It's irritating but they do offer one of the best prices.

I think you were asking them to do something they just aren't capable of doing. I think they did the right thing by telling you to look elsewhere, the way the went about it wasn't the best though and I'm sorry for that. I remember Leon turning down potential clients in the past too, for whatever reason. Just b/c a vendor is a PS vendor does not mean they are the cream of the crop. The one's that get their name repeated on here time and time again is because they have earned their reputations. Some vendors just cannot provide some of the info that GOG or Brian does b/c they do not have the tools nor the stones available to use. I'd suggest going with someone who at least has stone's in-house and the equipment to be able to tell you everything you'd want to know. Time is money and I can see where it's just not worth it for them to spend X amount of time hunting down things for you when their profits are small. It sounds like it was a good decision for them and hopefully it will work out better for you in the long run with the next vendor you choose.

+1 and very well said!

Re: told off by a vendor for asking too many questions...GRR

I'm sorry to hear your experience. I actually had a good experience with them. They're always prompt to answer my emails and their live chat is almost available 24/7. You know when you diamond shopping, you shop at "weird hours" lol. I communicate with them almost everyday for 2-3 weeks.

They had their gemologist oversea look at 3 diamonds for me then I purchased one. However I've returned it. All numbers look good, idealscope looks good and experts on here confirmed it. It faces very very white and under the sun, it blinds me. But when we shopped at Tiffany's for a band, under Tiffany's lighting or by the window, my diamond looked whiter than their G color but lacked the sparkle. Their diamonds look like "a drop of water", "3D image" but mine was just.... "white" and did not reflect its surrounding. I still dont know why since numbers and idealscope look good.

I felt very bad for returning it but B2c was very gracious. No shipping cost both ways. I still feel bad. While I was shopping, they had better prices than Bluenile and JA. Their CS is on par with BG to me (even better since they seems to be available anytime)

On a side note, Zoara is also drop-shipped but they cant compare to B2C. I bought 2 diamonds from them and I bluntly told them that I would return one. I checked in every 3 days to see if the stones had been shipped. They said X day to ship and charged me for one. A bout a week later I chatted with them and they said both were unavailable. WHAT!!!??? Zoara's CS was good to me but due to the nature of their business, you can't expect much.

I hope that I dont thread jack. B2c has been very good to me so I feel I should raise my opinion about them. I believe they will make it right for you.

Was the diamond you purchased cleaned properly?

I purchased as a new loose diamond set in a new setting. Mine was an I with medium fluor, B2c gemologist confirmed there was not milky/haziness.
