To recut or not this heirloom diamond for sale?

Another vote not to re-polish here. These old stones are so lovely as they come. As with anything vintage or antique, the evidence of prior love/use is part of the attraction (at least for me).

One lesson is, never trust a retail storefront unless you have good reason to. It's stunning to consider he offered less than 20% of the stone's value, and makes me wonder what he would have done - sold it as vintage, or cut it up?

May I ask, did they end up rehabbing the girdle a little, or spot polishing the abrasions? And if so are you able to tell me who did the rehab?
