To halo or not to halo my 3.15 carat antique marquise?

ElleElle is yours a knife edge band? Is it comfortable?
Yes it's knife edge and yes very comfortable. Mine is delicately done, not very think, and still does not feel sharp or uncomfortable. The designer still managed to make it feel stable and durable too.

WOW...just WOW...awesome stone! While I can see the stone just bezeled (which I LOVE the thought of & protected), I love the idea of a diamond bezel as well but with long bags & not rounds...like you posted. SO sleek & streamlined!! I love the look of the baguette halo so much more than the rounds for your stone.

Such a hard decision because there are SO many looks.. if you don't go with a diamond halo, I would consider a bezel ( because I personally love bezels for both protection & aesthetics ). A gold or platinum bezel can add a bit of width without the extra of adding diamonds ( width or cost). :wink2:

Thanks!! I am in love with it and am really liking the idea of bezel setting it north south on a thin gold band like ElleElle.....I am thinking brushed finish too. But would you do diamonds on the band? So many choices ah!!
Yes, matching diamonds on the band would be my vote!

David is going to play with the stone tomorrow and see how it reacts to being foiled, etc to see if bezeling is a viable option. I love the sleekness of no prongs. Otherwise I may opt for prongs and a thin open pave diamond band. Would you do delicate claw prongs or a style like the prong MQ I just posted? I really don't love Vprongs I must say. Hmmm

the ring is going to be huge on a size 5 finger. i don't know where you are going to fit the halo. for scale, here is a 3.19 carat on a size 7 1/2 finger. _19371.jpg

here is same stone different setting. your setting is going to have to be super super thin to fit on your hand.
again size 7.5 finger for perspective.

Love your marquise reset! Could you tell me the measurements of your stone? Thanks so much for posting photos, really helpful to visualize the size. Seems like a halo is out. I will either bezel if it doesn't have negative affects or prong with a thin diamond band

my stone is 8mm by 16mm, k color, vs2. here is the side view.

I am in love with both of these rings. I like the prong style of the first and adore the interior baguette halo especially, omitting the outer halo. I also like how the baguettes of the band are turned and interject the halo.

I also love these band styles. Thoughts?

My husband loves this, as do I, but I worry about the green next to the yellow stone. Or maybe it would be amazing.

This - but with rubies! YOWZA! It would look beautiful with a warmer stone.

Like so? I adore this ring!!! It is changing my mind about split shank. My husbands birth stone is rubies so that is meaningful.

If you want the stone to look white, stay with blue accent stones.
If you want the stone to look warmer, stay with red accent stones.
Green can be neutral, depending on whether it has blue or yellow undertones.

This is my favorite yet! The split shank really helps even out the massive length... but I'd do sapphires to make it appear whiter! hehehe  :halo:

That's super helpful Chrono! Since the stone is Y color I want to accentuate the yellow color. Sapphires are my birthstone but I am feeling like rubies would be more meaningful since they are my husband's. In other news he calls it a super bowl stone since it is shaped like a football lol. I also love the tiny prongs

After a long chat with David, he agreed that the ruby halo ring I posted was insanely stunning and would be perfect, except we are going to do long skinny ruby baguettes. Will post CAD when he sends them!!
