Found this Ring in the size and price range I want to be at. Ran the numbers thru the HCA and get a 1.4. Just seems like it is much less then I would think for what it is claiming to be. Anyone have xp with the seller am I missing something?

1.35 Round E VS2 >$7k

Thanks for the help..

It is graded by EGL. They use a difference scale for color and clarity than GIA/AGS use and it is more lenient. EGL diamonds are usually 1-2 color and clarity grades off. But sometimes they are not. They can still be great stones, you just need to do a little more leg work to find out the best value for a given diamond since the gradings are so variable.

Diamonds are usually priced according to what the market will bear. So a $7k diamond graded by EGL is usually equivalent to a $7k diamond graded by another lab.

The vendor says it has no fluorescence, but the certificate says it is faint. From what I have learned lurking around here for a few months is you can''t trust EGL...but why does the vendor say there is no fluorescence?

Umm, perhaps because it has no fluorescence? Ask ‘em. Have they actually seen the stone? It may be as simple as a data entry error.
