Mine is flush fit, and has been for decades, and I still like the look.
Lots of times the rings move apart anyways, so unless you have them soldered they will move around a bit.
If you think you would like a plain wedding band, I suggest that you should start with that. Back in the day we called the diamond bands "anniversary rings". So if you decide later that you would like a diamond band, well there it is... the perfect gift for one of your wedding anniversaries.
