I have been offered a "deal" and don''t know if it is a good one. This diamond is for an engagement ring and is being sold by my friend''s jeweler.

1.53/g/vvs1/depth 63.0/table 59.0/girdle med.-slightly thick/7.27-7.36x4.61/polish good/symmetry good/no flourescence.

The diamond is GIA certified and I had the stone verified against the certificate by a gemologist. Dealer wants $11,000...I know the cut isn''t that good but the stone looks good. It is clean from top and has 3 pinpoints from bottom..I really need advice from someone who knows.

It's a deep stone and will look more like a 1.35-1.40ct stone. Personally, I'd look at a much better cut stone in VS or even SI quality. To the eye these will probably look better than this vvs 1.

Definitely agree w/ Giangi! You are paying a premium for VVS1 stone. Diamonds are graded under a 10x loupe. No one walks around under 10x magnification. Also, go for a better cut.

BTW, I think 11K is too much for that stone.
