I have two F color stone (each 0.25ct). I am now in search of center stone and I found one I like. I was going for a D but now I find a bigger and affordable H. Now, should I put an H color in the middle of two F color stone? All stones are H & A ideal cut round brilliant. Should I do it or should I just keep the D color?
Please advise!

I would take the bigger H. Mine is H center with G sides. I can''t see any difference.

Ok, I''m probably going against the grain here but I dont think I would put them together because they are somewhat
larger stones (.25 vs 3 pointers). I dont think I am color sensitive when just looking at individual stones but when
you put them side by side with different colors (especially in larger stones)...then I can really tell a difference.

I think others will probably say this is fine though. Is there anywhere you can go and compare these 2 colors
side by side?

can you find something in the middle - like another F? or a G? you''ll be able to get something larger than the D without going all the way down to an H if you want to stay in the same color range as your side stones. (my ring was a 3 stone, .25/.83/.25 - all F stones! so similar to what yours will be - tho i recently swapped out the side stones).

anyway, i''d try for something in the middle of the two colors you mentioned (D and H) and get something a better match to your sidestones.

good luck!

Thank you all for your replies.

It''s a better deal (price wise) if I go with the H. Maybe I should also change the side stones then.

I like the H also because it has a better HCA score. The D score 1.2 with two EX and two VG while the H score 0.8 with four EX.

So confused!

I would probably get different side stones. If the side stones were the H and the center was F I don''t think you''d notice.

Will the cut make the difference? All three will be an ideal H&A stone.

It depends on your colour sensitivity. How much would it bother you if you could see a slight difference between them? Is it possible to see them side by side to compare before you purchase? If not hows the returns policy? You could always send it back if it did bother you.

I would personally prefer to have the center and sides very similar colour or very noticably different (my 3 stone has H sides and an Mor lower center stone), which can give a very interesting look.

I would go with F or G side stones. I think I might notice two colour differences apart in stones. I have before, but I''ve never compared ideal cut stones like that.

Someone correct me if I''m wrong, but under 2.0 the score doesn''t make a difference. 0.8 is no better than 1.4. Under 2.0 just means that it should be considered.

Wow!! You are so daring. Your ring is gorgeous. Love the shapes and the color as well.
I was previously thinking of coupling an O color for the center stone with F color side stones. But my FI said no. I would want him to be happy with my selection as well so I follow his lead.

Yes, I read this too last nite. I just think its great to go bigger but doesn''t have to spend more. However, this thought came to mind as well, is getting from 0.70ct to 0.90ct is worth to sacrifice the color? My 0.70ct is D. The 0.90ct is H. The price diff is $600. Both eye clean.

I don''t think it would bother you. My center is a K and my sides and band are H-I. If I look close I can tell but it has never bothered me. here''s a link of my ring https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-upgrade-40th-birthday-present.96812/ How big a center stone are you looking at? My sides are the exact same size as yours

At first, I saw this 0.70ct D SI1 (eye clean), loved it and paid for it. This was last week. Then yesterday I saw a 0.90ct H I1 for less price. Love how it look online but all the vendors are close for the weekend so no way to confirm whether it is eye clean or not.

My finger size is 5 so I am sure there will be a good finger coverage even if I go with the 0.70ct. However, the price is also enticing for going bigger but lower color. The difference in price is $600. I thought that my FI will appreciate the savings. I''ve talked to him last nite and he said he is getting used to us buying the D color. Then I told him about the savings and he said okay lets see what our jeweler said to that. So, we are waiting for Monday when the jeweler is open. I''m also afraid that a stone that good will be sold by then. If it is, then it may not meant to be mine.

Nothing like dollar signs to make a guy take a second look

. I say order the H and look at all
the stones together and see if it looks good to you. If not, send it back and get the D or maybe a G.

Awww, Thank you

I just love it and it''s so nice to look down and see abit of colour. Having comparitivly white sides makes the colour of the center more prominant and also makes the ovals look very white.
Unfortunatly it''s away at the Jewlers this week getting the prongs changed to protect the pears point *pines*

I did order it online yesterday so now just waiting for my jeweler to confirm whether its mine or not. Eventhough it said in stock online, it might have been sold already. Thats why I need my jeweler to confirm.

I think you will be fine unless you are super color sensitive. My three stone ring has an F center stone with G sidestones and I have also compared it to my H colored diamond studs and I can''t any difference between them.

I would go for it.

Ladies, thank you for your support. I am still waiting for Monday. I can''t imagine I actually looking forward to Monday. Hope I would hear a good news.

Another thought comes to mind: Would it be wiser to exhange the D color (0.70ct) for H color (0.90ct)? I''ve heard that there is something magical about the D color.
