My friend showed me this site -- you are all so helpful. Thanks in advance for reading my question.

If you have had a custom ring made, how long did it take? I know that this is an incredibly open-ended question, but my husband and I are at the beginning of the ring process. We''re just starting to look at stones and settings. We''d like to have a finished product by May and are wondering what our schedule should be.

Thanks!

I had a ''modified'' ring made through Simon G and it took 32 days. I hear that four to six weeks is pretty standard, but some that do custom work are known to take longer.

I had a WF custom ring done - from stone purchase to having it in my paws, about 2 months.

Ask the jeweler before you start. The answer will vary depending on how complicated your ring is, whether it''ll require sourcing unusual materials (finding a perfectly matched pair of colored sidestones in an unusual shape can take a while, for example), and what else the jeweler has going on at the time. October - February seems to be the busy season, with people trying to get things done in time for Christmas and Valentine''s.

As a general rule I think two months is a safe answer (although I''ve had projects go as long as four-five months when they were originally supposed to take 30 days), but really, ask before you start; every jeweler''s timetable will be a little different.
