I was on my way home tonight and was listening to the John Tesh Radio Show.

And they said that the average time that it takes for a man to propose is 3 years, 6 months, and 20 days.

I smiled immediately and thought to myself that I had to let you guys know when I got home :)

I dont know about everyone else.. but Im over THAT timeline... hahahahaha

lol, that''s about 3 months from now for me. definitely not happening!

OH NO!! That means I still have to wait 1 year, 2 months, and 3 days!!

that means me and fi are 3 years 1 month and 20 days ahead of schedule (going by the time we got engaged) i guess we are not average which is true, we are 2 very weird people haha :)

i''m at 3 years 5 months still waiting.

Good thing about averages is that this means there are a number of men who did it in shorter timeframes than that too!

I''m at 5 years, 2 mos, 14 days. No end in sight.

Better luck (by that, I mean, shorter waits) to others!

We''re at 3 years,um....3 months and uh....(I am counting my fingers and toes!)6 days into our relationship, and we just started the marriage talk/looking at rings thing. He won''t tell me when he''ll do it, but it would be sitting at the 3 years and 6 month mark. I''ve never been so happy to be average!

Smurfysmiles, wow! That''s adorable, he proposed 5 months into your relationship! I guess when you know, you know! (That it is the right person, I mean)

Most of our friends were engaged/married around the 3yr mark. We'll be celebrating our 6 year anniversary on the 21st... I'm a pretty patient woman, but I'm really hoping to be off the LIW list before the end of the month!

Interesting. Most of my guy friends proposed around the 1-year mark. J and I have been together for just over 4 years, so they all think we''re slow like molasses.

Well technically its been longer since we''ve been friends since high school (about 7 years ago) but we didnt start dating until recently :)
He wanted to ask me out in high school but was too shy, who knows what would have happened if he had!

FI proposed 3 years 6 months and however many days

hahaha....I felt the same way when I read the OP''s post! I''m not quite 4 years late though...We''ve been together for 4 years 1 month and 4 days and we didn''t even start talking marriage until the 3.5 year mark!

Well, I''m 7 years 8 months and 10 days late!!! Bahaha! Everyone I know has been very random so I don''t know an average for my friends.

We''re at 3 years, 1 month and 3 days. So...we should have about 5 months left... which is pretty accurate since I think he will do it in Feb/March.

The average is longer than I expected. It seems like a lot of people I know got engaged between 1 and 2 years.

This is fun!!! If we were to be average I''d have to wait one year, two months and twenty-three days...which would lead right up to my 31st birthday, and then pass it right on up! Oh, how sad that would be! But then, he''d surprise me two weeks later. Hmm...that''d be awfully cruel. LOL

LOL, we were together 2 years 4 months and 10 days before DH proposed.

Two years seems to be about the mark looking at all my friends.

It might make a difference that we all live with our SOs before getting engaged and we are all in our 30s.

My parents got engaged two WEEKS after they met (my mother was 21 and my father 31) and married within 6 months. They''ve been together for 38 years now.

Hrm...we''re up to 6 years, 8 months, and 4 days...guess that averages out to a shorter wait for a couple of other LIWs!

We''ll be 3 years on January 7. So he still has about 7 months. He''s actually right on schedule, since I should be expecting it before July!

Good job, BF!

Ha! DH proposed 3 years, 2 months, and 23 days into our relationship.
How utterly average.

Wow, FF better get his butt in gear, as we''re wayyyy over the ''average''. We''re at 7 years, 10 months, 1 week, and 4 days, lol..

I''m pretty average too!

We are at 3 years 2 months now and the engagement will be sometime between 3 years and 4 to 5 months... Feb/March 2009.

We're at 1 year, 1 months, and 23 days...With a proposal anytime in the next few weeks

We're ahead of schedule...

Interesting, I guess we''re lagging behind - bf and I are at 4 years and about 4 months - though not too much longer until an engagement.

Im way, waaaaaaay over....

May will mark 7 years

...and still NOTHING!!!

I''m also way over the average time...in july we will celebrate our 6 yr anniversary. But we''re both 25 so that might have something to do with it. He''s in his career already and I''m finishing up with school
36.gif

Well then I''m so screwed because we''ve been together for 10 years 5 months and 7 days............

FI proposed 2 years, 4 days into our relationship. Our friends have ranged from 3 or 4 months to over 13 years.

WOW! Our 3 year, 6 month, 20 days falls on CHRISTMAS DAY of THIS YEAR! What a coincidence! I''ll keep my fingers crossed
