Tilted/crooked diamond

Hi all. Just got my engagement ring and my OCD noticed the tilt on the second day. I could tell due to the uneven gap between the prongs and diamond.
Thoughts appreciated! - thanks

Wow. That stone looks VERY unstable and high up in the setting. I wouldn't wear it until you have a jeweler look at it

That head literally has a basket to nestle the diamond into.

Agree, this head/setting looks all off. It shouldn't be set that high in my opinion. Is this a setting that you previously had and
are putting a new stone in? Or, did you just pick the stone and setting out at the jewelers (they're new to you)?

Thanks all for the feedback. I think we’re all concerned how the stone is not set in the “basket” - This is part of their style and design.

Aside from the tilt, the ring looks amazing! I only noticed the tilt cos I’m the owner otherwise you can’t even tell. Another question how option does the ring catch fibres and is this a prong issue?

The style IS pretty!

The prongs are catching because they aren’t actually hugging the diamond nice and tight. If you zoom in, you can see for example that this prong isn’t even touching the diamond - please do not wear it right now! As much as it probably hurts to put it away



This is really poor bench work. Your diamond is not safe set like this. This isn’t a “style” IMO - it just looks like consistently bad benchwork. The diamond should rest inside the basket and sit lower

In the past couple threads about setting workmanship issues I’ve been in the “can’t really see the issues the OP sees” camp. But that prong literally not even touching the diamond is hard to dispute. Have you reached out to the jeweler who set your stone to see what they think?

It really looks like a case of the head/setting being too large for the diamond to me. Would explain the poorly set prongs and diamond to high in the setting.

you bought the setting? I would never purchase a setting that sticks up so high and looks like it doesn't fit the stone well but
if you saw this video in advance and you liked it...I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Definitely need to get the loose prongs fixed before wearing it.

I don’t understand much about high setting tbh but in general I really liked the style. It was just the tilt that I wondered about until I realized there’s so much more than just the unevenness after this thread.
More to consider in the next ring purchase!

Quick update - The jeweller was understanding, very friendly and organised inspection for my ring. They rectified this by resetting the stone onto a new band. No more tilt, looks and feels much more secure now. And personally I quite like the high setting.
