I am trying to decide on a setting for a 1.5 carat round diamond. I love Tiffany''s classic setting, and am looking for something similar in a four prong. So far I have narrowed it down to these three, in order of preference.

- I like how this setting seems to fit snug to the diamond. It also has a smooth transition from the band to the mounting.

- This setting seems as though it may fit snug to the diamond as well. The photo makes it a bit difficult to make a judgement.

- I like this setting, although the diamond does not fit sung. Does the fact that the diamond is suspended have any affect on the diamond''s brilliance?

The brilliance of the diamond is most important to me. It is hard to tell from pictures online, but in stores I sometimes also notice that the look of the prongs can be unattractive. That is why I prefer a four prong over a six prong. Some prongs appear more prominent than others when looking down on the diamond.

I am looking for pros and cons to the three I have listed, or suggestions on something similar. Thanks!

I like #1 also personally.

As for the "snug" vs. "suspended" look, I know it is a personal preference, but a girl in one of my classes has one similar to #3 and the setting just looks odd...almost as if it doesn''t fit the diamond. I personally don''t like the suspended look in a 4 prong setting like this.

Whiteflash is known for their Tiffany replica settings...so I am sure you can''t go wrong there.

Good luck!

Superbcert do a nice 6 prong Tiffany replica.

However, if you want a 4 prong in that size - have you been to Cartier''s website and looked at their 1895 solitaire setting?

Mark Morrell may also make something similar for you in the design that you like. Depending on whether a jeweller fabricates the entire ring from scratch or uses pre-designed casts (and other factors) they may be able to modify a setting you like to your specifications. e.g. ask James Allen whether they can tweak the setting to make it more snug ... to set it higher or lower etc...
