Tiffany''s 1CT Engagement Ring???

Does anyone know the approximate price for a 1CT engagement ring at Tiffany? I am interested in "The Tiffany Setting" or "The Pricess Cut."


What clarity and color should I look for if I just want a ring that does not show visible defects/imperfection to naked eyes? I am looking to spend $0~$8000.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
That info is easily accessible on the Tiffany website. It STARTS at $7,650 for a 1 carat. But that'll be the lowest color and clarity they have. It can skyrocket from there.

You can find out most pricing info on their website if you want to know other carat weights, etc. And this is assuming you are in the US.

As for clarity and color if you want a 1 carat for $8k you will have to spend your whole budget and get the lowest color and clarity they have (which I THINK is I VS2 for erings but it might go down to SI1 now). You could always try to find one secondhand. Or if the name isn't important you can get a LOT more bang for your buck elsewhere.
 
Is it important to you to have a Tiffany branded ring? If not you can get something jsut as lovely (perhaps even more lovely) for a more reasonable price.

If you are looking at the Lucida or the Bezet I think it starts right about $9k for 1 ct. The 1 ct princess solitaire is about $7800.

You can check their website for more details, but the best is to go to or call your closest store.

I am checking out Tiffany''s website and it say $8500+ for 1CT The Tiffany Setting and $7650+ for 1CT The Princess Cut.

Can y''all kind of guess what clarity and color they are?
 
My girlfriend said her engagement ring does not have to be a name brand; however, my budget is only $8,000.

I'm not sure if that's how much an average person with a 9 to 5 job in an office spends on an engagement ring, but I figure within my budget, a name brand even with a lower quality brings more "wow" factor than a no brand with a higher quality. Am I thinking straight or astray?

But if she said it doesn''t have to be Tiffany I would strongly suggest contacting Brian Gavin Diamonds, Good Old Gold, or one of the other vendors here. They can walk you through the process and you will get an amazingly gorgeous stone AND it''ll be bigger than the Tiffany one. And they can do beautiful settings too.

Would you happen to know other places that sells second-hand Tiffanys?

How does Brian Gavin Diamonds or Good Old Gold compare to "blue nile" or "James Allen?"

Also, estate jewelers in your area (where are you located)? Israel Rose in NYC often has pre-owned Tiffany rings.

Brand names aren't really obvious in rings and you pay A LOT for them.

If I were your GF I would prefer you worked with an awesome vendor for a larger and/or better cut diamond (Good Old Gold or Whiteflash are two great vendors) and then had them make the setting, or if your budget allowed have Leon Mege make the setting

Diamond shape tends to be personal preference. What does your GF like?
 
You REALLY need to ask your girl what she prefers. Or ask her sisters or girlfriends. Every girl is different. Me? I HATE princess cuts. But some people LOVE them and would want nothing but. So everyone is really different.

There are many estate jewelers that sell secondhand tiffany, but again make sure your girl is ok with a secondhand ring.

As for James Allen or Bluenile-for me personally they don't compare. The level of service you receive with Good Old Gold or Brian Gavin is just second to none-and that is worth a small premium in price IMO. Quite frankly JA or Bluenile also carry some pretty crappy diamonds-and they can be harder to navigate unless you want to learn a lot about choosing diamonds from us here (which we would be happy to help you do if you want).

If you twisted my arm to purchase from JA or Bluenile I would choose JA over Bluenile anyday. Bluenile is a pain to deal with and their salespeople are quite unhelpful in choosing stones.

I totally agree! The average person looking at a 1ct ring won''t know or really care that it''s Tiffany. My ering isn''t a brand name but I had the setting custom made from a very reputable jeweler in London. I could care less whether it''s from Tiffany, Tacori or Target. The most important thing is that it''s GIA cert''d so my FI knew what he was getting for his money and I love it.
 
Your budget is healthy in my opinion, and a bigger rock means a lot more than a tiffany name, that is for sure. That money spent at BGD, WF, or GOG will get you into the 1.2ct F/G VS2/SI1 range. Much better than an I color SI1 from tiffs

If she has not said "Buy me a Tiffany" then I would not recommend spending the money for the name that may not mean much to her.

Oh, and there is a big variance in a woman''s preference for a Princess or RB. Best to find out if you can.

unless she has specifically said she doesnt want anything bigger than a carat or she HAS to have Tiffany.

BGD has lovely stones and does lovely work. Do a search for them (here in PS) and you will find some of
their beautiful work.
 
Just wanted to say one thing - lowest clarity/color by Tiffany is VS2/I, according to them.

They''re very very different looks, and it''s possible that those who love one of them really don''t like the other (because they''re so different). I wouldn''t try to guess on this one.

I believe Tiffany''s started carrying SI1s a while back?
 
Re shapes: I love chunky cushions, emeralds, asschers, (and most ACA-type and OEC cut rounds).

I really do not care for princess or radiant cut diamonds, they''re just not my style (though ironically my e-ring is a modified radiant sapphire that my DH picked out and I do love it)

It''s good to get input from her or from her close friend.
 
As all the others said, find out what shape your girlfriend prefers, and then buy from a reputable dealer OTHER than Tiffany. $8,000 is certainly not a measly budget. I think you'll be quite surprised when you start shopping around and see just how big of a stone you can actually afford. You can get a much nicer, larger, higher quality stone elsewhere, one with which she will be thrilled!
 
I would prefer a nicer diamond without the tiffany name any day.

Ditto - I'm not a huge fan of Emeralds, Cushions or Asschers (although I've seen some lovely examples on PS) so it definately comes down to personal preference

Very good advice! I also second that Brian Gavin''s Tiffany style setting is to die for!!! I would get the largest G/VS2 you can afford in this setting...*swoon*

Have to agree with everyone''s comments.

I don''t care for radiants or princesses either, and wouldn''t want a round brilliant for my engagement ring. I''m a cushion, EC, Asscher, oval, or pear type girl. This isn''t something you can guess.

As for Tiffany''s or not. IF she is a name brand girl and has said she wants a Tiffany then get her that. If not... go for a larger diamond (unless she''s not a fan) and go with one of the vendors recommended here.

I go to the "Show me the Ring" board on here and start looking at the various rings on here. Pick a couple that you really like and send the pics (not the links) to a friend of hers. Ask her friend to show them to her and see what she likes.
 
It should be what she prefers, but I think rounds, princess and asschers are all great. Rounds are A LOT more common, which is one thing I do not like about them, but they usually look bigger for the same ct of any other fancy cut. Princess is becoming more common, I think have a lot of sparkle and have a nice clean-line and elegant. And asschers you NEVER see! I have a princess and get compliments on it EVERYWHERE I go-it''s still a somewhat "unique" cut! Asschers are clean, simple and beautiful but lack the sparkle of the firs two cuts. Cushions seem to be gaining in popularity and thus the prices might be going up a bit.
