I''ve been posting some questions on this forums for opinions, and here''s a post for me to contribute.

I have walked into Tiffany''s recently and wanted to share the price difference I saw vs. online sites like Whiteflash.

At Tiffany, they had a 1.3ct G/VS1 round classic for 18K. (I assume it includes setting).
Similar one I found on Whiteflash (one of the very well reputed online seller) is a ACA 1.325ct G/VS1 round for 12K (http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2313432.htm). That would be about 50% markup (minus some differences in setting)

Now, this isn''t to say that buying at Tiffany''s is wrong - I believe there are good reasons to buy at Tiffany''s that makes perfect sense for some people (brand, etc).

I just wanted to provide this info for people who might be interested.

Ha! $6,000 is a hefty price to pay for a little blue box and some white ribbon!

TJK - A Tiffany engagement ring is amazing in theory.. but not so practical. Most girls would prefer a larger stone (or you having an extra $6k in your pocket) than a ring from Tiffany''s. FYI-This is coming from a girl who wears a $1,300 gold tiffany necklace everyday.

Have you gone to Joe Escobar? If you haven''t, then you should check them out. I think you can search "Joe Escobar" and find a few of their rings. The bf and I did a lot of research and after tax, we still got an amazing deal on our center stone! They also have AMAZING settings. I think it makes sense to buy local since she can always take it in there to get cleaned, checked, and repaired. Also, CA has a "use tax" so you don''t even save money when you purchase online (as oppose to B&M). I''m just saying all of this because I know my boyfriend and I thought A LOT about the pros and cons of purchasing online v. local. Hope this helps!
