Did Tiffany bring back the Legacy Ornate? I remember from someone's beautiful posting (pictures of a ring balancing on a dog's snout!), that the company was discontinuing the ornate version. I've wandered into the Tiffany stores about 2 months ago and it was confirmed that they only had the basic version. However, on the website, I see the version with the graduated stones. Any thoughts?

Also, has anyone tried to reproduce this ring with the same type of quality and lowered the costs? If so, I would love to see any pictures. Thanks in advance!

We know custom ring makers who would be able to make a similar ring with equal or better quality...Steven Kirsch, Victor Canerra, Maytal Hannah, etc., but if the design is copyrighted, they could not make an exact copy. I would go with custom, personally, because I would not want to overpay just for the brand name. But some people enjoy having the brand name and are willing to pay for it.

Maybe Tiffany still has the ornate legacy's in stock which is why it's still on their website??

I agree with DS, there are several very skilled custom designers like the one's she mentioned that could produce something of equal quality, possibly better.

Thanks for the replies. I understand the copy right issue but I've seen fairly similar imitations or rather "inspirations" from Tiffany products. The one that comes to mind is the Novo that seems to be in heavy demand. How do other vendors get around this? Are links that might give me a better idea that custom might be better than the original?

Brian Gavin makes a ring very similar to the Novo. Many of the custom vendors will do something similar to the ornate Legacy, you just have to make minor changes as to not infringe on the copyright, things like making it one sided pave (top of the band only) instead of 3 sides, maybe changing the profile design etc. Check out Leon Mege's website...www.artofplatinum.com for examples of extremely well made pave rings, some have characteristics similar to the legacy. I'd also check out many of the popular vendors you find mentioned here and study some of the rings they have made for other pricescopers, then you might find one that you'd like to work with.
