I''m looking for a RB diamond between 1.5 and 2 carats. I visited Tiffany & Co., a couple of 47th St. dealers, and a jeweler in CT that carries the Hearts on Fire line. When I first began my search, I was convinced that I had to have a D color VVS1 or VVS2 diamond. I saw a HoF diamond today, E color and SI1, and can now say that I would actually consider buying a "non-V" stone. It was gorgeous. The dealer showed me the diamond through the H&A scope/viewer and it was pretty wild. I could see the inclusions under the scope, but not with the naked eye and I have a pretty good eye. I was impressed. Yesterday, I saw a Tiffany diamond and have to say it was also beautiful. It was G-color, VS1 and it was so very pretty. But, the Tiffany diamond was actually less expensive which surprised me. The HoF (diamond only) was around $28k for 1.5 ct. The Tiffany (channel set) ring for the same size center stone was close to $30k, but that includes the setting. I guess it comes down to personal preference. But, I''d like to know if anyone has ever been in the same situation and what they ended up choosing. Would a Hearts & Arrows diamond from WF be just as brilliant as the Hearts on Fire diamond? Why is HoF so much more expensive? My priorities are cut, size, color, and clarity in that order.
