Tiffany Harmony vs Tiffany 6 Prong

If that’s the case, why are you shopping at Tiffany? You could get the classic look you are going for with a super ideal cut diamond from Whiteflash or Brian Gavin Diamonds. Right now you are paying for the Tiffany name but if you don’t care about that why pay for it???

I do care about the brand name for myself, not for others to know. There is a difference, not that I need to be explaining myself to you...

Decision made, the classic Tiffany 6 prong knife edge is the clear choice then! Please post your ring when you receive it!

I am not so sure, just slightly leaning but it changes frequently lol :)

Having the brand name does matter to me, having other people know I am wearing a brand, does not. I am not asking for alternatives :)

Ahh, got it! Thank you for that clarification.

Ouch! But you did come here asking for opinions.

I gave two choices- I was asking for opinions between the two. Unsolicited judgement of why I am getting a certain brand is unnecessary

I have the classic 6 claw Tiffany & have never regretted it. The diamond floats on that skinny knife edge band & completely pops. I pretty much wear my ring 24/7 unless heavy garden work is going on etc (a known fact around here & nobody judges me for it) and I have never had a snagging claw or any issues whatsoever. I do get it checked periodically & despite looking so delicate, it would appear to be a tank.

Go with your heart. You have to wear it forever & you have to be totally happy every time you look at your hand. And huge congratulations on your upcoming engagement! Please come back to update & share pictures!

Thank you so so much for your kind and helpful response. I wear a lot of cashmere knits so that was something I was worried about :)

I wear a lot of cashmere in the winter too & you’ll find with ANY ring that sticks up from your hand, it will catch, just like it will when putting on gloves. But I don’t have any claws snagging or fibres getting trapped on my ring.

I love Tiffany myself and am fortunate to have a number of beautiful items from there. The fact it is Tiffany for many reasons matters to me, for me. I’m not “unhappy” if people know I wear Tiffany, however I do not “advertise” it as I feel it would be inappropriate yet if they ask I tell them. I love how you love Tiffany for yourself - it is like your special secret! I still vote for the 6 prong because for a solitaire I love the roundness of it and I like the shank better than on the other style (which I think overpowers that stone), and also the crown on the 6 prong is just so perfect, clearly why it is so often “copied”.

Exactly! I think people today have a misconception that it's pointless to spend money on something unless everyone knows you did. I feel the same as you, if someone asks, I will be happy to tell. If not, I have no desire for them to know. Thank you so much for your feedback!

100%. I love my Tiffany pieces as well! That is not in dispute. My “ouch” comment was directed at OP for her comment, “I don’t need to explain myself to you…”

@rjl I understand there are two choices for you to decide between and gather other’s opinions on. The posters that gave other suggestions were only making you aware of other possibilities and options. We are a community of diamond enthusiasts and experts and would be remiss if not at least attempting to educate a newbie on some of the important differences, ie better cut. That’s all, just helpful suggestions and information that you can disregard. No harm, no foul. I hope You will choose the Tiffany ring that will make your heart sing!

Eta: Bouncing around between two threads isn’t ideal either. Next time just ask the Mods to move it ;)

It was just a point to consider. I find there is much truth in numbers, and many have gone other ways after considering Tiffany. If it is Tiffany or nothing for you, that is fine. Clearly there is an overwhelming consensus on the classic six prong setting you are considering. I believe it began being manufactured in the 1800's so it is definitely a classic!

I am not a newbie to diamonds and do not need educating. I will bounce around whatever threads I please, please mind your business. Thank you.

Yes, but everyone's values and financial situation are different, I am not here to speculate. For me, I asked between two Tiffany rings because I will be getting one of these two options. As for the 6 prong setting, yes! It seems to be the overwhelming majority which is interesting to hear :)

@rjl, don’t be nasty and needy at the same time. People tire of it real quick.
Best of luck with your engagement

I am nasty for replying to rude comments? I am needy for asking a question on a question forum? lolol. Feel free to click off my thread if you don't like my responses

I have a .59-carat Harmony and a .35-carat 6-prong from Tiffany, and they’re equally beautiful. I lean toward the Harmony — it just makes my heart sing a little more. You can’t go wrong.

Wow, the perfect person to ask lol! May I ask why you chose both? Is one an engagement ring and one for another use? Do you wear one more often? :)

Neither is an engagement ring, actually. I’m not engaged (just happily long-term coupled). I wear those rings on either hand, depending on my mood. I have lots of rings, and only two of them have truly sentimental meaning to me. Thank goodness my partner (who gave me those two) enjoys my jewelry collection — imagine how awkward it might be if he didn’t.

I forgot to mention: I also have another Harmony ring, and that one has a .26 (or is it .21?) center with the diamond band. I do love the Harmony. I look forward to seeing the style you choose!

Folks, everyone in this thread needs to chill out and be polite to each other.

Agree, I'm not sure why people are so offended that I don't care who knows what. However, I will reply to a rude comment on MY thread 100% of the time lol .

I, too, prefer and love the 6 prong setting and think it looks classically beautiful on you. I feel that the Harmony is a more contemporary look, so maybe consider that aspect and your style. Good luck with your decision!

Thank you, that helps a lot! I am not a contemporary girl

You have lovely hands and both look perfect on you. I'm partial to the classic solitaire myself. You just can't go wrong with the 6 prong classic, imo.

My opinion is the six-prong knife edge is nicer.

I am getting engaged and have narrowed down between the classic Tiffany 6 prong setting and the Tiffany Harmony ring. I am getting a one carat as I do not want it to be flashy. I cannot decide between the two and would love some input about what vibe each ring gives and just overall opinions! I truly love them both equally and every time I think I have a preference, I switchScreenshot 2025-08-25 at 12.17.49 PM.pngScreenshot 2025-08-25 at 12.18.02 PM.pngScreenshot 2025-08-25 at 12.18.13 PM.pngScreenshot 2025-08-25 at 12.18.41 PM.pngScreenshot 2025-08-25 at 12.19.02 PM.pngScreenshot 2025-08-25 at 12.19.10 PM.png

Both look stunning on you! That said, for me the clear winner is the six prong setting and knife’s edge band. One, it is a classic Tiffany look. It will never get old or look just like everyone else’s. It is very special. Secondly, the thinner band really accentuates the diamond. It pops, visually. Third, the six prongs work extremely well with the symmetry of the cut of the stone. The four prongs don’t look quite as natural and pleasing to my eye, but still very beautiful. Just my ten cents. Congratulations! Wishing you happy decision-making!
