Tiffany Etoile Ring - where to look for similar

Hello! I am new to the site, but have been reading your forums for a while now. You have opened my eyes to the world of diamonds, and all the specs involved, but I am still overwhelmed.

My sweets says he''s ready to buy the ring and I fell in love with the Tiffany Etoile (platinum, one carat) ring I tried on.

I know he would buy me whatever ring I wanted, but since I''m the thrifty one of the pair, I want to know if I can get the same/similar ring elsewhere...online or store, at a better price. I have the other specs on the ring.

I live in Minneapolis. Can someone point me in a direction on where to call or visit? And can I find the same co. to sell me the diamond and set the ring. Tiffany says they set the ring around the diamond (as opposed to setting the diamond in the ring). Is that true?

And to answer some of your other questions, Whiteflash can sell you a lovely 1 ct diamond for much less than Tiffany with as good or better cut quality. Regarding how diamonds are set, I don''t know what the Tiffany rep was trying to say by telling you they "set the ring around the diamond" I assume they meant the settings are custom made to fit the exact size of the diamond you choose. WF will also do this.
