Tiffany/eBay fans, have you ever seen knockoffs with a full set of hallmarks?

I won Tiffany earrings at auction from the UK, and I plan to take them in for a cleaning and to check the setting so I can have them authenticated that way.

Until I get around to it, I was wondering if anyone here has ever seen knockoffs with a full set of hallmarks? These have the Tiffany maker’s mark, the British hallmark for gold, 750, the London Assay Office mark, plus a date stamp for q, which would’ve been the first year that this style was available.

Seems legit?

Just a heads up that the free cleaning they do in store - they’ll do for non-Tiffany pieces too.

The workshop - servicing that you pay for - won’t work on non-authentic pieces. Is there something about the posts that you’ll like changed? Longer, shorter, thicker?

I had no idea that they cleaned any jewelry! Good to know, thank you.

I can’t say I need any work done but I suppose spare earring backs couldn’t hurt?

Haha I was just trying to come up with things that they would likely need to send the earrings out to the workshop for - they probably have spare earring backs stashed in-store (unfortunately, in this case!)

The Victoria pieces are one of the most common victims of counterfeiting, so having them authenticated in some fashion is definitely worth it, IMO. You could also just go in and if you click with your SA, explain that you acquired them preloved and see if he or she is willing to send them in for evaluation for insurance replacement.

Oof, the posts are a tad thick. I’ll ask if they can be replaced with skinnier ones.

If they’re knockoffs then someone went through a lot of trouble to make amazing ones. The workmanship is impeccable, and the stones have zero bow tie in person.

Thanks for your help!

Gorgeous earrings @JPie! You can ask your local T&Co to send them out for professional polish. That should be round $75 and it’s part of their “workshop services”.

Ooh, I might just do that. Seems more cost effective than switching out the posts, though they are a bit thick for my liking. Thank you!

If these are knockoffs then they did a spectacular job sourcing the stones!

They are stunning and look perfect on you! I would keep them either way if the price is right!

Thank you! I have massive earlobes so I’m pleased with the amount of coverage.

Update: I finally got a quote of $95 for Tiffany to switch my earrings over to thinner posts, but keeping the La Pousette backs. The original posts were really hurting my ears. They’re already at Tiffany in NY, so if I don’t hear anything before the work is complete, then they’re authentic!

I am sad to lose the cool British hallmarks. They’re so detailed. I wish the US would do the same.

Edit: how odd. They quoted $95 on the phone, then sent me a bill for $90. I’m not complaining!
