Tie color question

My wedding colors are light blue and light green, with accents of ivory and brown. The BMs are wearing light blue dresses, the men are wearing brown tuxes. My original plan was for the groomsmen to wear light green ties (FI will wear an ivory tie)... but I''ve had a few people that have told me that the ties should match the BM dresses. Do you think blue dresses and green ties are too much? I kind of liked the idea, but everyone else seems to think I''m crazy. Any suggestions?

If your ties were a different color than the BM dresses, do you mind posting pictures? Thanks!

I don''t think there''s anything wrong with that! My MOH and BM will be wearing a dark-ish blue and the guys will have orange ties. I guess it wouldn''t make sense for them to wear a navy tie with a navy or black suit ... but still, even if I was doing a lighter blue dress I wouldn''t match the ties with the dresses. I think it all comes down to personal taste. Some people like things to match and some people don''t ... which one are you? It sounds like you''re a non-matchy person, and there''s nothing wrong with that!

my girls are wearing purple dresses and the guys are wearing light green ties. My fiance is wearing a white tie. I like the idea of incorporating both the colors.

I like the idea of having the ties green with blue bm dresses, especially if the colors will be tied together in the flowers or some other accent.

As long as you like the colors together, go for it! Will they be having matching (green) vests as well? Or just ties?

Thank you for your responses. They make me feel much better... I think it''s just a personal preference, and I prefer it to be not matching, so that''s probably what we''ll do. As far as vests go, I''m undecided right now. I was thinking about doing brown vests to match the tuxes, but I don''t know yet.

I agree that the green ties with blue dresses would be nice. I mean the days of "everything must match" are long gone.

I also don''t think they have to match, but should tie in with the rest of your colors somehow. Whether it be in the floral arrangements or whatever, like Sabine said.

Keep in mind when picking out the vest color that most guys will shed the jacket as soon as possible.

I think its fine for the ties to not match the bridesmaid dresses. We aren''t matching that way, the groomsmen will have green ties and the bridesmaids dresses will be pink.

Very good point That makes me want to do brown vests even more so the brown is still there!

Ours didn''t match. The guys wore two shade of blue ties. The ladies wore pink dresses, the man of honor a pink tie. The ushers wore green ties. They wore the black vests that came with the tuxes and they definitely ditched the jackets immediately.

Non-matching was great!!

I think that will look really nice! We also had similar colors but with brighter shades of blue and green and ivory and brown. I also went with a brown vest, and was really happy with how it looked. IMO the tie and the bout provided plenty of color.

you can always go to david''s bridal wesbite nad do the dress the wedding party. it may not be the exact dress/tux style or color, but you can get an idea. I did not see any bronw tuxes, but maybe this will help with the visual.

Wow, thanks for doing that! Those ties are the exact color I was thinking of, but the dresses are a lighter blue. I actually did one a while ago, and was happy enough with how it looked. I''ll see if I can pull it up again. I think we''ll just go for it though
