Too bad these are screw backs!
They were mixed in with costume jewelry, and were 50 cents.
It says 14k, real big on the screw head, but nobody at this particular shop ever looks.
They about 9mm.

Great find! You excel in finding the best goodies.

You are killing it @stracci2000! Great find. Are you going to modify the metal or remove the pearls and create new earrings? I can't wait to see what you do with them. I said it before and I will say it again- one day you are going to find an amazing diamond. I just know it.

Great find !

Honestly if its a clarity shop shame on the people who do the pricing and the family who must have donated them thinking they were fakes

Im sure you'll give them a good home rescuing them before they got damaged

Are you going to get the pearls reset for periced ears ?

Thanks caf! I have lots of fun haunting the thrift shops.

I'm not sure what to do with them.
I have two other pairs of Tahitian studs, and also a pair of dangles.
A ring and a pendant?

Maybe one day I'll find that 3 ct. in the bottom of a shoebox filled with Cracker Jack prizes!

It is a shame that the good stuff gets thrown in a tray at the thrift shop. I always sift through the jewelry looking and looking.......

I'm thinking a pendant and ring?
Or dangle earrings? What do you think?

Dangle earings !!!

Ooh f'yeah!
I find goodies too when I go thrifting here but haven't been since the pandemic began.

Our state is awesome at finding hidden thriftstore treasure!
Hope it never changes!

Ive never had any luck
I went to the local hospices shop looking for a hair dryer (for a little not one off non hair job) and had no luck
The charity shops are always staffed by retired ladies who have no idea that shop work is more than having a natter and a cup of tea and lookimg down your nose at the customer

That’s so neat! I guess like a high end clip on earring? I don’t have my ears pierced so maybe I was their target consumer? Haha

Back in 'the day', if you didn't have pierced ears, your only choices were screw backs or clip-ons. Both of which hurt.

And I cannot believe you don't have pierced ears!
This would open up a whole new world for you!
Imagine the big Tahitians you could sport.

Ill get the frozen peas, you sterilize a needle ....

Dont worry @MakingTheGrade I've seen it done back in high school

Dangling earrings!

I am so amazed at the things you find! Our local thrift stores truly and really have only cheap costume jewelry. They must have good/experienced “pickers” going through things before the stores get the goods?

Where do you live? I am curious as I have never found any true bargains. I have lived in small towns, towns filled with antique malls and big cities. Goodwill never has any bargains and has even raised the price on their ugly Christmas sweaters. The small dusty places only have junk.

I hate the smells in some of those places

I have brought a few pieces of China on line that turn out to be charity shops, the good ones do sift the good stuff out

I usually pay by bank transfer and i give them a donation on top of the asking price if its like a hospice or SPCA shop

It's hard to say what goes on in those places.
I had a favorite place, that yielded lots of great treasures. Then a new guy started managing the place, and I caught him googling a Dooney and Bourke purse before pricing it. Ever since that guy showed up on the scene, I have not found anything really great there anymore. So I'm sure the good stuff is gone before it hits the shelves. I don't like that guy!

I live in Albuquerque. There are thrift stores, pawn shops and antique malls galore in this town. The best locations are thrift shops run by church groups. They tend to be junky inside, and they don't check out their jewelry before putting it in the case.
My job keeps me on the road, and so I try to hit several shops a week in my travels.
I agree about Goodwill. Their prices have increased, and I don't go there too much anymore.

I saw a new story on tv about a charity shop (maybe the Selly army - maybe red cross??) In Queenstown that did a fashion show with all their designer pieces
Its not unheard of for (before covid) rich jet setter types to jet in for a holiday and donate lots of sfuff must before leave to fill their suitcases to fly home

So i beleave in some cases the nicer the suburb/ town the nicer the donated goods are

Here the hospice shop has a boutique in the main street and the rest of the stuff is sold in my suburb in a big barn like shop (the place i couldn't find a hair dryer or a steam pudding bowl)

OK I will try church thrift shops, hopefully that is where the treasures are hiding.
