Now I got a BIG question on the first Mali (from Gene). I want to mount it with a design that was originally for a princess cut with 4 prongs on each corner. The question is - how do I measure this modified square cut?! From corner to corner and ignore the broader mid-point (pardon my poor terms)? Would that leave the stone under protected?

Attached is the inspiration picture - I had wanted to keep it as a surprise! Sigh...

Yes, tip to tip or edge to edge. You''ll have to ignore the fat sides. The reason is that it''s the tips that get pronged and must fit into the pronged area to be notched properly.
