Hello Pricescope Experts!

I'm shopping for an engagement ring on JA, after reading numerous posts and using the HCA and AGA Cut class tool, I shortlisted three diamonds:

Diamond #1:
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...j-color-vs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-4518468
This guy has a VS1 clarity thus is def eye clean. AGA Cut class total grade is 1B and HCA is 1.5. However this diamond gets a medium fluor, but I heard that the medium fluor for a J color could potentially boost its color appearance?

Diamond #2:
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...j-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-4589315
This guys SI1 and has a not-small crystal located on the table, this is probably not eye-clean but it looks really sparky to me! AGA Cut class total grade is 1B and HCA is only 0.8!

Diamond #3
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...j-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-4198061
This guy is also an SI1 and has a smaller and lighter crystal located on the table, AGA cut class total grade is 2A and HCA is 1.3.

Given the prices of the three diamonds are at roughly the same range, which one would you guys recommend?

Hi Stanley, I'll look through these for you but I just wanted to mention the HCA isn't a selection tool, a lower score is not better than a higher one. The HCA is used for rejection, thus stones scoring <2 are considered worthy of further evaluation with images etc, for the most part, stones scoring > 2 are rejected.

Ok, I've had a look and out of them all, #2 is the one I'd pick if it's declared eye clean to your standards and the grade making cloud isn't having a negative effect on brilliance ( unlikely in SI1 but best to check).

#1 might be ok but you can do better if you want the best cut you can find, it's a well cut stone of a slightly different flavour but I prefer the first. Medium blue fluorescence can be a nice addition to a J colour, opinions vary whether its presence actually has a positive influence on the colour grade.

Hi Lorelei,

Thanks for your insight! I guess someone else also agrees with you and the #2 was just sold:lol-2:

I just knew that HCA is a rejection tool...what a novice I am...

What do you think of #3? its HCA is also <2 but cut grade is a 2A

You can do better than 2a. What is your budget and desired specs?

I'd want an Idealscope image for sure with that one but let's see what else is available.

What's your budget for the stone and your preferences?

Yeah the #2 was just gone, ugh!:cry2:

My budget is ~14K, and 2ct, color J+, eye clean, 3EX, GIA or AGS

I know that's a little challenging! But if necessary I can raise the budget a bit

OP don’t be said, I really disliked that table inclusion.

Here are two diamonds that I like although one of them is a FIC stone:

Thanks Simone! I also don't like table inclusions if it's visible with naked eye. The two bluenile diamond looks small in size? Roughly only 8mm compared to others' over 8.1mm in diameter, is that because the depth and girdle?
