My boyfriend has been looking into local vendors abroad (And I could go on about how excited I am as a LIW, but I'll try to restrain myself!
). I realize that IGI is thought to be below GIA/AGS standards, but a Pricescope forum search did not get me much info beyond that. Can anyone offer additional insight into buying IGI certified diamonds?
If we are looking into F/VS diamonds in the U.S. (GIA or AGS), is it a big risk to buy E/VVS IGI certified diamonds abroad? I know that cut is the big question, and I've looked into Idealscopes and the HCA. Will these measures (going up in color/clarity, using HCA and possibly an Idealscope) be enough to overcome the IGI vs GIA/AGS gap?
Any other thoughts? We're looking at 1c+ RB diamonds, btw.
