Thoughts on turning a solitaire into a 3-stone

Hi all,

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. Hoping you all could weigh in on a potential project for the near future. I love my marquise stone (husband and I picked it out together, with the help of PS ), but my knuckles are so big I keep thinking that adding two small sidestones would help it look more balanced on my hand. Or maybe shrinkage has set in, idk.

Here is what I’m thinking of doing (but each stone would still have 6 prongs):920C6843-9CEF-44FC-BAF9-6797D0859C9B.jpeg0E2A5D4B-E42D-4D78-ACA3-FFB62DB1EA48.jpeg

I’d like to add .15-.2 ct J color marquise stones, to match the main stone. So I guess I’d just ask the jeweler to source them since they’d be difficult to find.

What do you guys think? And those of you who added side stones to your solitaire, did you like the results?

Thanks :)

Lovely!! I changed my solitiare to a three stone and love it. I love your nail color there too.

I did it several years ago - smaller diamonds at the time - current three stone in my avatar. I love three stone rings!

I support this idea but also love the way your ring looks right now - the center stone just stands out in all the right ways. I don't think your knuckles are out of proportion at all :)

The 3-stone would look amazing! I haven't seen many 3-stone marquise rings, but it looks so beautiful and unique!

Thank you . I do love it’s simplicity. I just keep itching for more coverage. I blame PS for my gradual diamond obsession.

Thank you! I haven’t seen any like it in person either. I saw the picture recently and immediately thought “omg. This.”

I love the simplicity of your solitaire and think the current setting is very elegant! I've also seen baguettes on marquise that I think is elegant and gives it a spread without compromising the thin setting.

I would look into getting a wrap made for versatility.
Love your solitaire, but the three stone you pictured does look lovely.
Hope you don’t mind the quick mockup

I LOVE the 3 stone ring you posted, so unusual. Haven't seen 3 Marquise diamond rings before. Go for it! Stunning

I think a 3 stone would look awesome!

Your ring is gorgeous as is, but I'm a 3 stone nut, so I'd go for it! The mock up looks amazing!

At first I was like, nah, I like the simplicity and uniqueness of your solitaire since we don’t see many marquis. Just get a 3 stone RHR. BUT, I am loving @Rfisher photoshop! So do it! Lol

Plus I love 3 stone rings! I often think in the future turning my solitaire into a 3 stone as well.

Thanks for all the replies! And especially @Rfisher for that amazing mockup. I just might have to go for it.
