As some of you know, I'm in the process of having Maytal make me a tapered baguette setting for my emerald cut. I've been wanting to find some kind of band to wear with the ring. I originally envisioned a channel set horizontal baguette band, but came across this ring in the Pearlman's Great Deals section. Jason said it's a hair over 2 mm in width and a hair under 2 mm in depth. He said it's a fairly delicate ring (kind of hard to tell from the pic) which is what I'm wanting.

Here's how Pearlman's describes the ring:

One platinum diamond eternity ring. The ring is a size 6 and is set with .90ct of French cut square diamonds. VS- F-G and measures 2mm in width. Purchased 8/7/07 from 14karats in Beverly Hills. This is a real steal folks so don't wait too long.
Price: $1,200.00

I welcome all opinions. Feel free to be brutally honest! Thanks!!

Get it now if you''re wanting a really thin ring because they''re hard to find!

I love it; I saw it too recently! Can you return it if you don''t like it? If so then I would have them send it to you.

seems like it''s calling your name!!!!!! (Do you wear EXACTLY size 6, tho?)

Surfgirl -- Have you seen square cut bands this thin? If so, does the effect of the step cut just get lost because they''re so tiny?

Motownmama-- I do wear a size 6 exactly -- a little smaller during the winter, but a 6 always fits me fine.

Skippy -- Yes, I can return it if I don''t like it.

Does it look like it''s a bit heavy looking or is that just an effect of the photography? Hard to tell, but I guess I''ll just have to see it in person to know for sure.

Thanks!

It''s just the photography. Snap it up before someone else does!

HI Dem!

I actually was interested in this band, and Pearlmans sent it to me last wk to check out in person. I have to say...its a really pretty, dainty band...I think you will love it! I was considering it to stack with my Tiff Novo and DK bands, but I just didnt think it would work 100%...But, the band itself was gorgeous, and I think it would look lovely with your EC ring!!! I say, just order it, and worst case scenario, you can return it. Good luck!!!!

I love it! I was wondering today why that hadn''t been snapped up yet. It''s gorgeous!

I wish I wore a size six! Pretty band ... and Dani has great taste so if she loved it ....

Actually I have seen an antique band like that - and it might be a titch thinner than 2mm, not sure...but you can see the sparkle is different from RBs or single cuts. Can you SEE the steps at that tiny size? Not without a loupe or eagle eyes. If you want to see the steps of each tiny stone, you''ll need to go bigger than a 2mm band, IMO. But I love the different scintillation, compared to my single cuts. Why not get it and then you can return it if you dont love it?

I''ve been eye-balling that one covetously for weeks now! It''s gorgeous, and I bet it will look beautiful with your ring: dainty, and subtly blingy. Given the scale of the photograph, I''m pretty sure it will be delightfully delicate in person ....

Please, please buy this! It looks amazing, and it''s kismet that it''s exactly your size!

I''m dying to find one of these (2 mm french cut eternities) in a size 5, so I wonder if Bill has come across any others . . .

Add me to the list of people who found this band and wished it were in a different size. Finding a thin band with french-cut stones is really difficult and this price was the best (by far) that I could find. I really think you should go for it!

I love it, too! Will those specs fit next to the ring that Maytal's making for you or will they send it to you for approval? It's really pretty, and the price is outstanding!

Thank you all so much for your input. I purchased the band today and should receive it sometime later this week. If it doesn't work out, I can always return it.

How much would you guys think this ring retails for? I got a quote today from Singlestone for one of those beautiful minitaure emerald cut bezel-set bands and I was astounded by the price for only 60 points!

Dani -- So glad to hear you thought the band was pretty! Can you say why you didn't think it would work with your other bands? I'm also thinking of stacking it with a couple of other bands. Did the diamonds appear to be well-cut? Could you tell they were step-cuts?

Surfgirl -- What you say makes sense. I certainly don't expect to see much detail in each individual stone, but I want it to be obvious that they're step cuts and not princess or radiant cuts.

Pixley -- I'm not sure how it will look with my Maytal ring. I'm hoping that Maytal will have my ring finished within the return period. If I love the ring, however, and it doesn't look good with the emerald cut, I might keep it anyway as a good stacking ring. We'll see. Any news on your EC band from Singlestone? Can't wait to see pics!

Hi Dem!

So happy for you that you purchased the ring!!! I am not completely sure why I didnt love it with my other bands...but I think b/c my Novo and DK bands are so sparkly, the step cut band (although pretty) just didnt "flow" with them, if you know what I mean. It gives off a subtle sparkle, which is gorgeous, but I just wasnt 100% about it....Yes, the diamonds did appear to be very well cut...and, for sure I could tell they were step cuts!

Im so glad its going to you, and I hope you love it and enjoy it!!!!

Make sure to post pics when you get it!

And can''t wait to see your new ring by Maytal. I''m sure it will be a stunner.

Oooh, I hope you like it! Please post pics once you get it. Maybe they can extend your return period pending your reset. If I had to guess, I'd expect it to retail for somewhere in the $2K+ range. What did SS quote you for their EC eternity band??? Patti's quote for my ring in a full eternity was about $500 under what the display one was listed at, which the sales associate quoted me around $3K for - YIKES!!! I'm not sure if the display one had higher colour stones or more stones due to its size or what, but that would've turned me right off. My stones are F VS1, so that might make a difference.

My ring is all done. I have pics from my mom, but she doesn't arrive for another two long weeks. I'll post in SMTR so you can see what it looks like in semi eternity.

Dani -- Thanks!! I wonder how I''ll like it stacked with RB eternity rings. I would love to pair it with a couple of really thin channel set baguette bands. I''m so into step cuts these days.

Thanks, Kaleigh. I''m really looking forward to seeing it too.

Pixley -- I was really floored by the quote from Singlestone. I spoke with Patti today and she quoted me $3,350 for a platinum eternity ring, size 6, approximately 60 points. I didn''t ask about color or clarity, but it says E, VS on the website. They''re gorgeous rings and I would love to own one, but I was really surprised they were so crazy expensive. I can''t wait to see yours. I didn''t realize it was going to be semi-eternity. Was the quote for semi-eternity much more reasonable? Just out of curiosity, what will the band look like?

SDL -- Thanks! Consider it jumped on.

I REALLY

it!

Demelza, I think you will love it stacked with your other rings. I have a thin (2.5mm) channel-set sapphire band with french cuts and I am so in love with it that I''ve been on the hunt for a french cut diamond band, which is how I saw this one. Even with the sapphires I can see the step cuts and get those chunky facets, which I prefer with my step-cut center stone. I also love the contrast between the french-cut eternity and my regular round brilliant half-eternity. Please post pics when you get it, I can''t wait!

I just looked up your sapphire band and I''m totally in love. It''s so gorgeous! What a find. Do you mind sharing where you found it? I would love to get something like that and then a thin baguette eternity band. I''m just hoping that this ring is as delicate looking as your sapphire band. It appears to have more metal on the sides of the channel, but I''m encouraged by Dani''s assessment. I will for sure post pictures even if I decide against it. I suspect a PSer will end up with it one way or another.

I found mind on trocadero.com--an estate jeweler out in CA had it and I decided to go for it. It''s never too risky when you can return it, you know? I ended up loving it--I had the same fears you do because in the picture the platinum looked to be thick on the sides, but for some reason I just think that happens in photos? It''s really thin when you see it in real life. I can''t wait to see this ring, I think it will look fantastic with an emerald cut!

HI:

I was also interested in this ring--but I thought I would check it out first, IRL, in Beverly Hills when I am there next week. It looks great in pics.

Hope it works out for you!

cheers--Sharon

3,500 = Ouchie! I think that''s what their other SA quoted me when I called once, but maybe the stones were all E''s on that band. Like you, I was shocked. I don''t know if it matters, since your incoming band looks so positively gorgeous, but the quote for the SS full eternity, size 4.25 was around $2500 (something like that) and semi was $2040, so it does make a difference. My band has all Fs, I think. If this one works out for you, it''s a total SCORE, ''cause you''d be pretty hard pressed to find a similar one for less than twice what Pearlmans listed it at. I think it''s faboo!

I think it looks gorgeous and I eyed that myself! I can''t wait to see your pictures when you get it, I think it''s also a fabulous deal! I''ve always loved carre cut diamonds.
