I'm checking out some alternatives to round shapes and came across the Quaddex. I saw a POH in person a while ago and loved it.

Here is the one we're considering (only one posted which is in our price range). Also, reached out to BGD to see how having a diamond cut for us works. So the diamond- http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/Diamonds/diamond-details/0.803-E-SI1-quadex-Diamond-AGS-104049790038

I was told this is an eye clean diamond, as well.

Also, what kind of setting would you put a Quaddex in? I prefer vintage looking rings and staying around $1000 or under for the setting.

Thanks!!

I really like the Quadex diamonds, since I prefer square shapes in modern cuts. A Quadex is basically the same outline shape as a radiant or asscher (not exactly, but close). I have a square radiant and was able to put it into a regular stock setting for a round stone (no squared prongs needed to protect the corners like you would want with a princess cut). You really wouldn't have too many limits in terms of setting style, and I'm sure BGD could make something with a vintage feel to fit whatever diamond you select. What type of styles are you looking at? Something engraved or with milgrain? I've seen very lovely examples of milgrain from BGD.

I sent them the most awful mockup ever lol. Based on this- http://www.gabrielny.com/engaged/style/ER7999W44JJ

Or maybe something like this with milgraining on the edge and probably sans halo for the budget: http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/product_view/AnjaysDesigns/4559272/14k_white_gold_diamond_engagement_ring_wedding_ring/jewelry/rings/gemstone

I personally am sad anytime anyone prongs a Quadex-type diamond because it loses the distinct square-ish cut cornered shape. I don't see a ton of difference between it and a round when pronged. However, it's totally personal preference! That's the great thing about PS - there are so many choices online! I did a ton of research and decided a bezel would enhance my ring the best - so I would lean towards the 2nd design (if you want a halo). There are also non-halo bezel designs if you don't like a halo.

BTW, have you checked out the Jubilee at GOG? I love the Quadex and considered it, so am not trying to talk you out of it because it's gorgeous - but I think this Jubilee is a deal due to the I1 designation: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9436/
It looks like an eye clean I1, but you can confirm with GOG.

I think the pic probably doesn't do it justice, and it looks a bit milky in the pics. However, the measurements are even bigger than the Quadex - 5.59x5.55 mm versus the Quadex 5.2 mm (the 6.14 listed is the diagonal measurement) and it's $1,000 cheaper. My 5.5 mm was a lot smaller than I anticipated unset, so definitely take a look at it unset to see if you would be happy with the size prior to purchasing a setting.

I was debating about the prongs. Mainly thinking of going for a double prong to emphasize the shape more?? Thank you for those threads! They had some that I do really like!

I don't think my boyfriend would go for an I designation at all. Explaining an eye clean SI1 was hard enough.
